7 ASSEMBL Y A ssembly requires two persons. S et the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials; do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. N ote: The und ersi de o f th e wal king bel t is coa ted with high-performance lubricant.
8 4. Insert the Console Wire Harness (78) and the T V cabl e into the Uprights (84) . Set the console assembly on the Uprights (84). Be care- ful to avoid pinchi ng the Console Wire Harness (78) and the TV cable.
9 6. Place the treadmill in the storage position (see HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL on page 26). Next, place the cylinder end of the Shock (92) near the bracket on the base of the Uprights (84).
10 9. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill. If there are sheets of clear plastic on the treadmill decals, remove the plastic. To protect the floor or carpet, place a mat under the tread- mill. Note: Extra hardware may be included.
1 1 HOW TO CONNECT AN ANTENNA Indoor Antenna 1. Place a VHF antenna in the desired loca- tion. Connect the 300 ohm fl at wire from the antenna to a 300 ohm to 75 ohm adapter. 2. Push the 300 ohm to 75 ohm adapter onto the 75 ohm an- tenna terminal on the treadmill frame near the power cord.
12 H OW TO PUT ON THE CHEST PULSE SENSOR T he chest pulse sensor consists of two components: the chest strap and the sensor unit (see the drawing below ). Insert the tab on one end of the chest strap into the hole in one end of the sensor unit, as shown in the inset drawing.
13 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT T HE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high-performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sili- cone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deterio- rate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
14 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec - tive and enjoyable. When the manual mode of the con- sole is selected, the speed and incline of the treadmill can be changed with the touch of a button.
15 H OW TO TURN ON THE POWER Plug in the power cord (see page 13). Next, locate the on/of f switc h near the power cord. Make sure that the on/off switch is in the on position.
16 The right display —This display will show the dis- t ance that you have walked or run, the speed of the w alking belt, the incline level of the treadmill, your pace (in minutes per kilo- meter), and the approxi- mate number of calories and fat calories you have burned (see FAT BURNING on page 30).
17 H OW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM I nsert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 15. Select a preset program. To select a preset program, press the Program (PROG.) button repeatedly until one of the programs numbered “P 1,” to “P20” appears in the right display.
18 F ollow your progress with the displays. See step 5 on pages 15 and 16. Measure your heart rate if desired. See step 6 on page 16. Turn on the fan if desired. See step 7 on page 16. When you are finished exercising, remove the key from the console.
19 H OW TO USE A HEART RATE PROGRAM During heart rate program 21, your heart rate will re- m ain near a target heart rate setting that you select . During heart rate programs 22, 23, and 24, your heart rate will reach approximately 85% of your age-pre- dicted maximum heart rate.
20 If heart rate program 22, 23, or 24 is selected, the t arget heart rate setting for the first segment will be s hown in the flashing Current Segment column of the m atri x. The target heart rate settings for the next several segments will be shown in the columns to the right.
21 H OW TO CREATE A CUSTOM PROGRAM I nsert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 15. Select a custom program. To select a custom program, press the Programs (PROG.) button repeatedly until “P25” or “P26” appears in the right display.

23 H OW TO USE AN IFIT CARD I nsert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 15. Insert an iFIT Card and select a program. To use an iFIT program, insert an iFIT Card into the iFIT slot; make sure that the iFIT Card is ori- ented so the metal contacts are face-down and are inserted into the iFIT slot.
24 H OW TO OPERATE THE PERSONAL TELEVISION IMPORTANT: Before operating the television, you must connect an antenna, a 75 ohm CATV cable, or a VCR to the 75 ohm antenna terminal on the tread- m ill. See page 11 for instructions. Follow the steps below to operate the television.
25 Press the On/Off button and adjust the brightness, contrast, color, sharpness, and/or hue of the television. A few seconds after the On/Off button is pressed, t he brightness level indicator will appear on the tele- visio n scr een. Press the Volume buttons repeatedly to adjust the brightness setting if desired.

With the help of a second person, carefully raise the Uprights (84) to the position shown. Caref ully pi vot the H ood (41) off. Locate the Reed Switch (63) and the Magnet (46) on the left side of the Pulley (47). Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch.
29 PROBLEM: Television reception is poor S OLUTION: a . For the television to operate properly, good reception is necessary. If you are using an antenna, make sure that it is properly connected and adjusted for optimal reception. (See HOW TO CON- N ECT AN ANTENNA on page 11.
