3 1. Before beginning any exercise program, con- sult your physician. This is especially impor- tant for persons over age 35 or persons with pre-existing health problems. 2. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all users of this treadmill are adequately informed of all warnings and precautions.
4 2 0. Never leave the treadmill unattended while it is running. Always remove the key, unplug the power cord, and switch the reset/off cir- cuit breaker to the off position when the treadmill is not in use. (See the drawing on page 5 for the location of the circuit breaker.

6 ASSEMBL Y T o hire an authorized service technician to assemble the treadmill, call 1-800-445-2480. Assembly requires two persons. Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. Do not dispos e of the p acki ng ma teri als u nti l asse mbly i s com plet ed.
7 3. Identify the Right Upright (79) and the Right Upright Spacer (83), which are marked with “Right” stickers. Insert the Upright Wire (86) through the Right Upright Spacer as shown. Then, set the Right Upright Spacer on the Base (60). Have a second person hold the Right Upright (79) near the Base (60).
8 5. With the help of a second person, carefully tip the treadmill onto its right side. Partially fold the Frame (53) so the treadmill is more stable; do not fully fold the Frame yet. Attach a Wheel (90) to the Base (60) with a 3/8" x 2" Bolt (3) and a 3/8" Locknut (11).
9 8. Identify the Left Handrail (101). Remove the tie from the bracket on the Left Handrail. Set the Left Handrail (101) on the Left Upright (77). Attach the Left Handrail with three 5/16" x 3/4" Bolts (4) and three 5/16" Star Washers (9); do not fully tighten the Bolts yet.
10 9. Have a second person hold the Right Handrail (105) near the Right Upright (79). Remove the tie from the bracket on the Right Handrail. I nsert the Upright Wire (86) into the bottom of the Right Handrail (105) and pull it out of the hole in the top of the Right Handrail.
1 1 11. Be careful not to pinch the wires in the Right Handrail (105). Attach the console assembly to the Right H andrail (105) with two #8 x 3/4" Screws (1), a 1/4" x 1 1/4" Bolt (6), and a 1/4" Star Washer (10). Repeat this step on the left side of the console assembly.
12 14. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill. If there are sheets of clear plastic on the treadmill decals, remove the plastic. To protect the floor or carpet, place a mat under the tread- mill. Note: Extra hardware may be included.
13 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT T HE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- i cone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
14 Key Clip FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers a selection of features designed to make your workouts more effective and enjoyable. When you select the manual mode of the console, you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button.
15 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORTANT: If the treadmill has been exposed to c old temperatures, allow it to warm to room tem- perature before turning on the power. If you do not d o this, you may damage the console displays or other electrical components.
16 The left display —As you exercise, the left dis- play can show the e lapsed time and the ap- proximate number of c alories that you have burned. The display also shows the incline of the treadmill when the incline changes.
17 HOW TO USE A PRESET WORKOUT 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 1 5. 2. Select one of the ten preset workouts. To select an aerobic workout or a perfor- mance workout, press one of the workout but- tons.
18 HOW TO USE THE STEREO SOUND SYSTEM To play music or audio books through the consoleʼs s tereo speakers, you must connect your MP3 player, CD player, or other personal audio player to the con- s ole. Locate the audio cable and plug one end into the MP3 jack on the console.

20 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1 . Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand. Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. It may be neces- sary to push the frame forward as you pull the knob to the left. Pivot the frame downward and release the latch knob.
21 TROUBLESHOOTING M ost treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, please see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a.
22 Remove t he three # 8 x 3/4" Screws (1) and care- fully pivot the Motor Hood (63) off. Locate the Reed Switch (68) and the Magnet (48) on the left side of the Pulley (47). Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch. Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1/8 in.
23 PROBLEM: The walking belt is off-center or slips when walked on SOLUTION: a. If the walking belt is off-center, first remove the k ey and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD.
24 These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. For detailed exercise information, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician. Remember, proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results.
25 SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
