9 English Indicators The computer has three easy-to-read statu s indicators on the upper-right above the keyboard, and four on the fron t panel. The power, battery, and wireless communi cation status indicators are visible even when the LCD display is cl osed.
10 English Launch keys Located at the upper-right, abov e the keyb oard are four buttons. These buttons are called launch keys. They are: mail, W eb browser, Acer Empowering Key " ," and one user-programmable button. Press " " to run the Acer eManager.
11 English Touchpad The built-in touchpad is a pointing device that senses movement on its surface. This means the cursor respon ds as you move your finger across the surface of the touchpad. The central location on the palmrest provides optimum comfo rt and support.
12 English Note: Keep your fingers dry and clean when u sing the touchpad. Also keep the touchpad dry and clean. The touchp ad is sensitive to finger movement, hence, the lighter the touch, the better the response. Tapping harder will not increase the touc hpad's responsiveness.
13 English Using the keyboard The keyboard has full-sized keys and an embedded keypad, separate cursor keys, two Windows keys and twelve function keys. Lock keys and embedded numeric keypad The keyboard has three lock keys which you can toggle on and off.
14 English To simplify the keyboard legend, cursor-control key sym bols are not printed on the keys. Windows keys The keyboard has two keys that perform Windows-specific functions. Hot keys The computer employs hot keys or key combinations to access m ost of the computer's controls like screen b rightness, volume output an d the BIOS utility.

17 English Ejecting the optical (CD or DVD) drive tray To eject the optical drive tray when the computer is turned on , press the drive eject button. When the power is off, you can eject the drive tray by using th e emergency eject hole.
18 English Audio The computer comes with 16-bit high -fidelity AC'97 stereo audio, and dual stereo speakers. Adjusting the volume Adjusting the volume on the computer is as easy as pressing some buttons. See "Hot keys" on p age 14 for more information o n adjusting the speaker volume.
19 English Using the system utilities Acer eManager The innovative Acer eManage r software is designed for easy access to frequently used functions. Press " ," to launch the A cer eManager user interface, featuring three main settings: A cer eSettings, Acer ePresentation and Acer eRecovery .

23 English Frequently asked questions The following is a list of possible situations that may arise during the use o f your computer. Easy answers and solutions are provided for each one. I pressed the power button a nd opened the display, but the computer does not start or boot-up.

35 English Album Acer Arcade lets you view digital photos indiv idually or as a slideshow, from any available drive on your comput er. Click the Album button on the Arca de Home page to show the Album ma in page. The content area on the right shows both indi vidual pictures and folders.
36 English To view a slideshow, ope n the folder containing the pictures you wish to view - then click Play slideshow . The slidesh ow is played full-screen. Use the pop-up control panel to control the slide show. To rotate a picture in full-screen, click Rotate right or Rotate left .
37 English Video To open the Video function, click Video on the Arcade Home p age. Note : The Video feature is designed to play b ack MPEG1, MPEG2 (if a DVD drive is installed), AVI, WMV, and ASF formats. If yo u want to watch a DVD or VCD use the "Cinema " function.
