9 CHECK TIRE PRESSURE The tires on your tr actor were o v erinfl ated at the f actory f or shipping pur poses. Correct tire pressure is impor tant f or best cutting perf ormance. • Reduce tire pressure to PSI shown in “PR ODUCT SPEC I FI CA TIONS” section of this manual.

12 OPERA TION The operation of any tractor can result in f oreign objects thr own into the e yes, which can result in severe e ye dam age. Al wa ys wear safety glass es or eye shields while op- erating your tractor or per fo r m ing any adjustments or repair s.
13 T O ADJUST GA UGE WHEELS (See Fig. 8) Gauge wheels are properly adjusted when they are slightly off the ground when mow er is at the desired cutting height in operating position. Gauge wheels then keep the dec k in proper position to help pre v ent scalping in most terrain conditions.
14 ADD GASOLINE • Fill fuel tank to bottom of fi ller neck. Do not ov erfi ll. Use fresh, clean, regular un lead ed gasoline with a minimum of 87 octane. (Use of leaded gasoline will increase carbon and lead o xide deposits and reduce v alv e lif e).

BRAKE OPERA TION If tractor requires more than fi v e (5) f eet to stop at highest speed in high est gear on a le v el, dry concrete or paved surf ace, then br ake m ust be chec ked and ad just ed.
18 MAINTENANCE V- B E LT S Check V -belts f or deterioration and wear after 100 hours of operation and replace if necessary . The belts are not ad just able . Re place belts if the y begin to slip from wear . TRANSAXLE COOLING The transmission f an and cooling fi ns should be kept clean to assure proper cooling.
19 • Unlock drain v alv e b y pushing inward and turning coun ter clock wise. • T o open, pull out on the drain valv e . • After oil has drained completely , close and lock the drain v alv e b y pushing inward and turning clockwise until the pin is in the lock ed position as sho wn.

24 TRANSAXLE MO TION CONTROL LE VER NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT (See Fig. 26) The motion control le v er has been pre set at the factory and adjustment should not be necessar y . • Loosen adjustment bolt in front of the right rear wheel, and lightly tighten.
