2 SAFETY RULES W ARNING: Alway s disconnect spark plug wi re and place wire where it can- not contact spark plug to prev ent acc idental starti ng when set ting up, transport ing, ad- justi ng or mak ing repairs exc ept carburetor adjustm ents.
3 S Move at least 10 feet (3 met ers) from fuel- ing sit e before s tarting engine. S Turn the engine off and l et saw cool in a non-combust ible area, not on dry leaves , straw, paper, etc.
4 Thumb on underside of handlebar Elbow loc ked S Keep a good, firm grip on the saw wi th both hands when t he engine is running and don’t let go. A firm grip will help y ou reduce kick back and mai ntain cont rol of the saw. Keep the fingers of your l eft hand enc ir- cling and your left thumb under the front handlebar .

6 S Place the c hain onto the s procket locat ed behind the c lutch drum (see illustrat ion). Fit the c hain between the t eeth in the spro cket. S Start at the top of the bar and fit chain i nto groove around the guide bar . S Pull the bar forward until the chai n is s nug in the groove of t he bar .

8 FUEL ING & LUBR ICATION W ARNING: Remove fuel cap slow- ly when ref ueling. FUELING ENGINE This engine is certified t o operate on unleaded gasoline. Bef ore operation, gasol ine must be mixed with a good quality 2-cycle air-cooled engine oil. W e recommend Poulan/W eed Eat - er R brand oil.
9 S Allow the engine to run for approx imately 5 seconds . Then, s queeze and releas e throttl e trigger to al low engi ne to ret urn to idle speed. ST ARTING A W ARM ENGINE: S Move ON/S TOP swit ch to the ON position. S Push the chok e knob i n completely (to t he OFF position).
10 S Squeeze the throt tle tri gger and al- low the engine t o reach full s peed before cutt ing. S Begin c utting with t he saw frame against the l og. S Keep t he engine at full s peed the en- tire time you are cutting . S Allow the chain to c ut for you.
11 NOTE: Before felling cut is complete, use wedges to open the cut if nec essary t o control t he direction of fall. T o avoid kick back and chain damage, us e wood or plast ic wedges, but never steel or i ron wedges .

14 S Replace wit h Champion RCJ - - 7Y spark plug and ti ghten with a 3/4 inch s ocket wrench (10-12 ft/l bs). S park plug gap should be 0.025 inches. S Reinstal l the spark pl ug boot.
