11 SIDE DISCHARGE MO WERS REAR DISCHARGE MO WERS ASSEMBLE WHEELS T O ADJUSTER AXLE ARMS • Secure each wheel with fl at w asher and retainer spring or fl ange loc knut (if equipped with threaded axle). • Assemb le adjustment knobs to ad just er le vers b y press ing or tapping lightly .
12 Lockn uts Discharge guard MODELS WITH SPRING LO ADED DISCHARGE GU ARD • Place discharge guard on top of la wn mow er discharge opening. • Install two (2) he x self-tapping screws through housing and into guard mount- ing brac ket or , install two (2) 1/4-20 lockn uts (If equipped).
13 MODELS WITH BRIGGS & STRA TT ON QU ANTUM ENGINES • Slide throttle le v er on engine to CHOKE position (aw a y from spark plug). Push gently bey ond fi rst stop to loc k in detent (CHOKE position). • Inser t wire “Z” bend of throttle cable into throttle le ver hole from top side .
14 MODELS WITH SP ARK PLUG T O REAR OF MO WER T o pre vent cab le damage , the cable must be attached to the side of engine, a wa y from the muffl er . • Abo ve the m uffl er , locate the hole in en- gine shroud. Install supplied ca ble clip on cable and assemb le to side of engine with supplied he x head screw .
15 ASSEMBLE ST ARTER R OPE GUIDE (USE HARD W ARE GROUP “G”) CENTER MOUNT TYPE • Install threaded end of rope guide through hole in top of low er handle cross bar . • Loosely assemb le 1/4-20 keps loc k nut on threaded por tion of rope guide. Do not tighten.
16 MODELS WITH ENGINE MOUNTED SPEED CONTROL The engine speed is controlled by a le ver located at the carburetor on the engine . HIGH or F AST position is for starting en gine, normal cutting and better grass bag ging. LO W or SLOW position is f or light cutting, trimming and fuel economy .
17 CA UTION: Under nor mal usage, the catch er material is subject to de te ri o ra tion and wear and should, theref ore, be check ed frequently f or replacement. Any replacement catcher should be check ed to ensure compliance with original man u fac tur er's spec i fi ca tions.
18 BEFORE ST ARTING EN GINE Read engine manual pac ked with y our unit. FILL ENGINE WITH OIL Y our lawn mo wer is shipped without oil in the engine. • Be sure mo wer is le vel and area around oil fi ll is clean. • Remo ve engine oil fi ller plug (oil fi ll cap/ dipstick on models so equipped).

21 AIR FIL TER Y our engine will not r un properly and ma y be damaged by using a dirty air fi lter . Clean the element after e very 25 hours of operation, more often if la wn mower is used in v er y dusty , dir ty conditions. See the maintenance section of your engine manual.
22 ENGINE FUEL SYS TEM IMPORT ANT : It is impor tant to pre vent gum deposits from f or ming in essential fuel system par ts such as carburetor , fuel fi lter , fuel hose, or tank during storage .
