3 S Maintain unit acc ording to rec ommended procedures. Keep blade sharp. Keep cut - ting line at the proper length. S Use only .080” (2 mm) diameter line. Never use wire, rope, string, etc . S Instal l requi red s hield properly bef ore using the unit .

5 S Adjust the handl ebar to t he proper posit ion and tight en the two s crews you lef t loose during handlebar assembly . Mak e sure these screws are sec urely tightened. S After attaching the c ontrol handle and tight- ening the handlebar , route the wire f rom the control handle t hrough the s lit i n the bottom of the foam grip.
6 ASSEMBL Y INFORMA TION - - BRUSH BLADE BRUSH BLADE NOTE: If your unit has been assembled for trimmer head use, r efer to the sect ion A TT ACH- ING TH E PLASTIC SHIELD AN D TR IMM ER HEAD and reverse the steps to remove the pl as- tic shield and trimmer head bef ore you mount the metal shield and blade.

8 Choke Primer Bulb Starter Handle Choke Primer Bulb Starter Handle Muffle r S Set the t hrottle trigger in the starting posit ion using the thrott le lock feature. Keep thr ott le trigger in the starting position unt il engine runs smoothly . S Pull starter rope handle sharply 6 times.
9 S WHAT CAUS ES B L ADE T HRUS T B la de Thrust can occur when the spinning blade contacts an object that it does not cut. This contact causes t he blade to stop for an instant and then suddenly move or “thrust” away from the object that was hit.
10 Metal Ins ert S Once line is passed t hrough the exit hole, place the spool in t he trimmer head. Press the spool down and turn i t unt il it lock s down and does not pop up when you release it. S Make s ure the line is not caught between the rim of the spool and the wall of the trimmer head.
