3 CUTTING SAFETY W ARNING: Inspec t the area bef ore each u se. Remo ve obj ects (rocks, br oken glass, nails, wire, etc .) whic h can be thrown by or become ent angled in line. Hard objec ts can damage t he trimmer head and be thrown causing serious i njury.

5 S If engine does not stop, move c hoke to the FULL CHOKE posit ion. Engine ON/ST OP Switch Choke Lever FULL HALF OFF HOW TO ST ART YOUR UNIT W ARNING: The trimm er head will turn while start ing the engine. Avoid any con- tact with the muff ler. A hot muffl er can cause serious burns.
6 T o s top engine: S Release the throt tle tri gger. S Push and release the engine ON/ STOP switch . TRIMMER LINE ADV ANCE The cutting head advances li ne automati- cally. Do not tap head on the ground to ad- vance line. This m ay break parts and caus e cutti ng head to m alfunction.
7 MAINTENANCE W ARNING: Disc onnect the s park plug before performing mai ntenance except for carburet or adjustments . CHECK FOR LOOSE F ASTENERS AND P ARTS S Spark Plug B oot S Air Filter S Housing .
8 Feed line in directi on shown on spool. Spool 2. Insert one end of line i nto center cavit y of empty spool. Ensure li ne will feed i nto spool in the directi on shown on t he spool (counterclockwise) . 3. Continue feeding line i nto spool, leaving 4 - - 6 inches (10 - - 15 cm) unwound from center of spool.
9 TROUBLE CAUSE REMEDY Engine will not start. 1. Engine flooded. 2. Fuel t ank empty. 3. Spark pl ug not fi ring. 4. Fuel not reaching carburetor . 5. Carburetor requires adjustm ent. 1. See “Starting a Flooded Engi ne” in Operation Sec tion. 2. Fill tank wit h correct fuel mix ture.
