5 Screw Mounting Bracket Handlebar Brac ket C over 1. Place t he mounting brac ket ov er the up- per s haft above the ar row on the safety label. Be sur e to us e the cor rec t mount- ing brac ket for eit her the 1 ″ (2.5 c m) or 7/8 ″ (2.2 cm) diameter upper shaft.

T o remove the tr immer head, align hole in the dus t c up with the hole in the si de of the gearbox by rot ating the dust cup.
8 Screwdriver 9. Tighten blade nut firmly with a wr ench while holding s crew driv er in posit ion. 10. R emov e the s cr ewd riv er . 1 1. Turn blade by hand. If t he blade binds against t he shield, or appear s t o be un- even, the blade is not cent ered, and you must r einstall.
9 3. While sec urely holding the upper s haft, pull the attac hment s traight out of t he coupler. INST ALLING OPTI ONAL A TT ACH- MENTS 1. Remove the s haft c ap from the attach- ment (if pres ent) and disc ard. 2. Position loc k ing/releas e button of attac h- ment into guide rec es s of upper shaft coupler.
10 T rimming 3 inches (8 c m) above gr ound SCA LPING - - The s c alping technique re- moves unwant ed v egetation dow n t o the ground. H old the bottom of the tr immer head about 3 inches (8 c m) above the ground and at an angle. Allow the tip of the line t o strik e the ground around trees , pos ts , monuments , etc .
11 Bring the pow erhead engine to c utting s peed before entering t he material to be c ut. If the blade does not tur n when you s queez e the t hrottle tr igger of the powerhead, mak e sur e the at tachment is fully ins erted into t he coupler.
12 5. Wind the line evenly and tightly onto the spool. Wind in the dir ection of the arr ows found on the spool. 6. Push the lines into the notc hes, leaving 3 to 5 inches (7 - - 12 c m) unwound. 7. Inser t the lines into t he the exit holes in the hub as s hown in the illust ration.
