8 Headband A ss embly The head set can be rot ated for wearing on th e left or r ight ear . NOTE Before installing the headband, remove the eartip and earloop from the headset. 1 Hold the h eadband so it is aligned to rece ive the headset as sh own and inser t the heads et into the headband.
9 Position Y our He a dse t When you we ar the headset, t he microphone should r est as clos e to your cheek as pos sible withou t touching. The microphon e can be adjusted inward by th e pivoting earpiece to opt imi ze the position o f the headset. 1 Slide the he adset over and behind your ear and fit t he eart ip i nto your ear .
10 C on nect Y ou r Des k Ph on e Thi s section descri bes how t o con nect the base t o you r desk p hone . Connect the Power Plug one end of th e power supply into the pow er jack on the back of th e base and the oth er end into a work ing power outlet .
11 Con nect and C onfig ure Y ou r Desk Ph one There are t hree setup opt ions for connect ing the CS5 45- XD to your desk phone. S elect on e of the following and co ntinue.
12 Check C onfig ura tion a nd Ma k e a T est Call 1 If your desk phone has a volume contr ol set it to mid-range. 2 L ook at the bottom panel of your base and mak e sure the default settings ar e correct.
13 Desk Pho ne pl us HL 1 0 Lifter ( sold sepa ratel y ) NOTE Fir st follow th e steps above for De sk Phone (Standard) . 1 Firmly press the handset lifter po wer cord into the handset lifter jack. USE 2 While w earing your headset, slide the handset lifter arm under the handset until the lifter base touches the side of the phone.
14 If Y ou Do Not Hear a Dial T one 1 If you do not hear a dial tone, raise the lifter height switch to the ne xt highest position. 2 Repeat steps 2 thr ough 5 above as necessary until y ou hear a dial tone. 3 When you hear a dial tone, secure the lifter as described in steps 6 thr ough 8.
15 F or Nortel Phones Only Desk Pho ne pl us EH S Cabl e 1 Connect the end of the EHS cable to the base and the other end to the desk phone as described in the EHS Adapter Getting Started guide. NOTE For furth er installation in formation refer to the EHS Gettin g S tar ted guide that came w ith your EHS cable or at plantr onics.
16 Position Y our B ase The minimum recomme nded separat ion bet ween your desk phone and t he base is 6 inche s. The minimum recomme nded separat ion bet ween the bas e and computer is 1 2 inches . Incorre ct positio n can cause nois e and interfer ence problems.

19 Mut ing Y ou r Hea dset Duri ng a Cal l T o mute / unmute t he call, press the vo lu me / m ute button in. When mute is ac tivated on th e primary h eadset, the C all/ mute LED on the ba se will be solid red and you will hear thre e high tones (you will still be able to hear t he caller).
20 Base Pho ne Button a nd S witc hes 1 Subscription But ton The heads et and base that c ame in the box are subscr ibed ( connec ted) to each other . However , if you wish to use a ne w headset or ne ed to restor e subscription to your cur rent headset, th e units c an be subscrib ed to each other by the fo llowing two m ethods.

22 3 Auto A nswer Switch Auto answer s aves a but ton press to es tablish the radio link bet ween he adset and base. Wh en auto answer is s et to black you must pre ss the heads et call control but ton to answer an incoming c all . When Auto A nswer is set to gr a y you can ans wer a call just by lif ting headset fr om the base.
23 Place an Outg oing C all 1 Wearing your heads et, press the h eadset call contr ol button. 2 Remove the handset fr om the cradle. Y o u will hear a dial tone. NOTE This step will be automatic if you install a lifter or EHS cable accessory. For a complete list of accessories, visit plantronics.
24 Heads et My headset is unstable. When you wear the headset, the micr ophone should rest as close to your cheek as possible without touching. The microphone can be adjusted inwar d by pivoting the earpiece to optimize the position of the headset. See Position y our headset .
