1 Chapter 1 I ntroduction Thank you for pu r chasing W A P-1963A . The W A P-1963 A is an access poin t fo r IEEE 802. 1 1b 2 . 4GHz w ireless net w ork. Y ou can use this access point to build up a w ireless LAN, any w ireless L A N s t ation can join the w ireless net w ork.

3 Chapter 2 H ard w a re Installation Before you p r oceed w ith the ins t allation, it is necessary that you have enough info r ma t ion about the W A P-1963A . 2.1 Har d w are Connecti o n 12V DC LAN RESE T ANT + 1. Locate an opt i mum location for the W A P-1963 A.

6 3.2 Wireless Setting In this op t ion, you can set the M ode, Alias Name, ESSID and W ork Channel to t his A ccess Point . There are si x operating modes available in W A P - 1963A: A P , S t ation-Ad hoc, S t ation-Inf r ast r uctu r e, A P Bridge-Point t o Point, A P B r idge-Point t o M ulti-Point, and A P Bridge - W D S.

15 3.3 Wireless A d vance Settings Y ou can set advanced parameters of t his W A P-1963A. The paramete r s include Au t hen t ication T ype, Fragment Threshold, R TS Threshold, B eacon I nterval , Da t a Rate, P r eamble T ype, and Broadcas t ESSID.
16 Fragmen t Threshold “ Fragmen t Threshold ” speci f ies the ma x imum size of packet during the fragmen t ation of da t a to be t r ansmitted. If you set this value too lo w , it w ill resul t in bad pe r formance.

Y ou can use an e x ternal RADIUS server t o authenticate w ireless s t ations and p r ovide the session key to encrypt da t a during communication. I t uses TKI P t o change the encryption key f requentl y .

The w ireless s t a t ion user has to use one o f thes e accoun t s to login to the Access Poin t before access the w ireless LAN .

29 3.8 Configuration Tool The Configuration T ool screen allo w s you to backup, r es t ore and r eset WAP - 1963 A configuration settings. Saving t he configu r ation settings provides an added protection and convenience should problems occur w ith the W AP -1963 A and you have to reset to fac t ory default.
