1 Chapter 1 Introduction Overview With years of Internet telephony and router ma nuf acturing experie nce, PLANET proudly introduces the latest member of the PLANET VoIP gateway family: the VIP-280.

2 Chapter 2 Prep arations & Inst allation Physical Inst allation Requirement This chapter illustrates ba sic installation of VIP-280 • Network cables. Use standard 10/1 00Ba seT network (UTP) cables with RJ45 connectors. • TCP/IP protocol must be installed on all PCs.
Please locate your PC in the same network segment (192.168.0.x) of VIP-280. If you’re not familiar with TCP/IP, please refer to related chapter on user’s manual CD or consult your network administrator for proper network configurations.

Chapter 4 V oIP Configurations VIP-280 S t atus This page ma in display the current and last time V o IP call st atus & result. Parameter Description PC Time will show the date & time t hat your connected PC now . Gateway Time will show the date & time of this V o IP router , the date amd time is get from SNTP server .
Register Sever St atus This V oIP router can regi ster to 4 GK/SIP proxy simult aneo usly . Users can setup the GK/SIP proxy information on “ V oIP Config Register Server ” Error Message For some reason (ex. All lines of th is V o IP router are busy), here will display the failure information of last time V oIP Call in.
Hotline When Enable, it will allow you to make a V oIP call without Key in any number . Th at mean it will direct call out by V oIP when you of f hook the phone of this line. Tone Setting This page defines the ton e s generated to the phone connected to the phone port.
VoIP Call Out This page defines the routi ng rule for Call out to V oIP . (User key in the phone number through phone set dial pad, then V oIP router translate th e phon e number by the routing table se tting here to destination IP , and dial out number t hen call out via network protocol).

Line busy No answer Please add a profile at “ V oIP Config Call Routing Call Setup ” and put the name of profile on the Call out Routing table (Pl ease refer to the “ V oIP Config Call Routing /V oIP Call Out ”).
26 Register Server If this V oIP router wa nt to use GK /SIP proxy service to transfer the V o IP call, you can input the GK /SIP information here. The V oIP router can register to up to four GK/SIP proxy simult aneously . Parameter Description Register Server St atus Success: Register su ccessful.
When voice communication is established via H.323 protocol , please add a ”h323:” in front of the IP address. Such as: the GK IP address is 192.168.0.100, then input “h323:192.168.0.100” in the IP address. When voice communication via the SIP protocol , please add a “sip:” in front of the IP address/URL.

5 Chapter 5 System Configurations System Config Bridge Mode Setting This page allows you to disabl e/enable this devic e become bridge device o r not. When it be co mes a bridge device, bridge interface u se LA N's IP addre s s, LAN' s subnet mask.
Basic Settings: Y ou can configure basi c firewall setti ngs in this router . LAN-to-W AN Access Rules: Y ou can define LAN-to-W AN network access rules which evaluat e the network traf fic' s source IP addres s, destination IP address, and communi cation port to decide if it's allowed to pass throug h the firewall.
32 The ability to define network access rules is a very powerful management tool. Using a custom rule, it's possible to disable all firewall protection, creating holes in the firewall, or block all access to the Internet. Use with extreme caution when creating or deleting network access rules.
33 When any change is made on this page, you MUST res tart all PCs to update their TCP/IP settings from this DHCP server. Adding incorrect routing information can affect the connection, a local host, or the whole private network. You must have experience working with routing tables before using this option.
Virtual Server This page allows you to map a TCP o r a UDP port of the router to a host which actually deals with request s on t he private network. DMZ This page let you set up th e DMZ service on the V oIP router .
System Maintenance This page let you backu p / Restore all of your config uration param eters on the V oIP router . It is very good idea to back up all of your V oIP router configuration p arameters after inst all. Configurations T o Backup, press Download setting ba ckup file, and i nput the file name you want and file location to save.
Reboot System Use the Reboot button on this p age to re boot your V oIP router , before you reboot, please ma ke sure you have to press the “ Saved modification ” to save your current configuration to Flash ROM, otherwise all the change will be disappe ar after reboot.

In this chapter , we’ll l ead you step by step to esta blish your first voice comm uni cation via web browsers operations. A Default Configuration Without any configuration, y our VIP-280 is come with following ba sic information.
