Each menu contai ns differ ent kinds of items. There is a small rectangular fra me named “Active Frame” whic h is pointing to the s elected item. This “ Active Fram e” can be moved by 【 Æ 】 or 【 Å 】 keys. There are such kinds of menu ite ms : 1.
3.4 Character Input In the menu i nterface, if you enter into edit sta tus (for example, in the “ camera name” edit box), at the bottom of screen, the input status is appeared : Here it means you ca n press num eric keys to input d igital num b er .
Chapter4 Basic Operation Guide 4.1 Power on Note : Please make sure the power suppl y matches DVR and AC cable connected correctly . Befor e switch DVR on, please connect one monitor with V OUT or VGA interface. Otherwise, you can not see gra phic user interface and can not operate.

4.3 User name and p assword Note : When DVR is delivered fr om factory , there is only one default administrator named “admin”, and password is “1234 5”. The admi nistrator’s name can not be modified, while the passwor d can be modified. The ad ministrator can create 15 users and define their user rights.
Setp 2 : Enter into password modificati on menu Move the “Ac tive Frame” to “ Password” icon by using 【 Æ 】 / 【 Å 】 keys. Press 【 ENTER 】 key to enter into fo llowing password m enu : Ste p 3 : Input new password Press 【 EDIT 】 key to enter into e dit box.
4.4 PTZ Control Note : The user must have the “PTZ control” right. PTZ contr o l interface In preview mode, press 【 PTZ 】 key , i n the login dialo g , select one user nam e and input the correct password, you can e nter into PTZ control interface.
Adjust preset description In PTZ control mode, press 【 REC/SHOT 】 key , and press the preset num ber (three numeric keys), DVR will adjust t he corresponding preset num ber . Repeat pressing 【 REC/SHOT 】 key , and press the preset number , DVR will adjust that preset number .
4.5 Manual Record Note : The user must have the corr esponding right, DVR has HDD and HDD is formatted already . Manual record In preview mode, press 【 REC 】 key , in the pop-up login dia log, select the name and inp ut the correct password, you can e n ter into the “ Manual Record” interface.
4.6 Playback Note : The user must have “P layback” right. Playback interface In preview mode, press 【 PLA Y 】 key , in the pop-up l ogin dialog, sel ect username and input correct password, you c an enter into “P layback” interface. In menu mode, press 【 PLA Y 】 key , you can enter into “Playback” int erface directly .
Play by T ime : Playback the recorded stream directly based on the tim e section. Select Page : In the file l ist box, each page will only display 8 files. If th e matched files are more than 8, you can select page to list o ther files. 500 pages (4000 files) can be searched in one time.
3. Search by Card No and Playb ack file : In the playback interface, select channel number , record type, enable card No. search option (“ 9 ”) and input the card number , move “ Active Frame” to “Search” butt on, press 【 ENTER 】 key , DVR will se arch and list the matched files.
Exit playback In playback interface, press 【 ESC 】 key to enter into previ ew mode. In playback interface, press 【 MENU 】 key to enter into main menu, press 【 REC 】 key to ent er into manual record, and press 【 PTZ 】 key to enter into PTZ con t rol mode.
4.7 Backup Recorded Files Note : The user must have “Playback” right. Pl ease connect with ba ckup devices before you start to backup. In the playback interface, you can bac kup the recorded files.
St e p 2 : Select the files that you want to backup In the file list box, use 【↑】 or 【↓】 keys to m ove the scroll bar . W hen the scroll bar stays at the file you w an to backup, press 【 EDIT 】 key to select it. The sym bol “ 9 ” is the sel ection tag.
4.8 Shut Down DVR Note : Do not switch off the power d irectly in ca se of damaging H DD. The correct step is using “Power Off” in the “Utilities” menu, or 【 POWER 】 key on the front panel or on IR controller .
Chapter5 Parameters Setup Guide Only the users that have “ Parameters Setup” righ t ne ed read this chapte r . When the following parameters are modified and saved, you must reboot the DV R to make the new p arameters take into ef fective. Other parameters do not need to reboot.
Move “Active Frame” to “ User” icon, press 【 ENTER 】 key to enter into “ User Management” menu. In the user nam e list box, only “ admin” is existe d. Y ou can use 【→】 key , move “Active Frame” to pass word edit box, a nd press 【 EDIT 】 key to enter into edit status.
5.2 Add and Delete User Enter into “User Manag ement” interface. Add user The steps are following : St e p 1 : Enter into “User Manage ment” menu Please refer to chapter 5.
In the users list b ox of “User Managem ent” menu, use 【 Ç 】 【 È 】 keys to select the new user name, then us e 【 Æ 】 key to “Default Rights” button, press 【 ENTER 】 , the user will have the default rights. The default rights in clude local p layback, rem o te playback an d view log.
“Remote Rights” : PTZ Control : Remote control PTZ ; Record : Remote m anual start/stop recording; Playback : Remote playback, download the record ed files on DVR; Parameters Setup : Rem.
5.3 Unit Name and Device ID Unit name In the “Display ” menu : There is an item named “Unit Name”. The default unit name is “Embedded Net DVR”. Move “Active Frame” to unit name edit box, press 【 EDIT 】 key to enter into e dit status, you can modify the unit nam e.
5.4 V ideo Output St andard and VGA Setup V ideo output standard There is one VOUT BNC connector at the rear panel of DVR. It is used to conn ect with analog monitor an d can support P AL or NTSC video output. Y ou can modify vid eo output standard to match video input.
5.5 OSD Setup OSD is abbrevia tion of “O n Screen Display ”. For our embedded D VRDVS, it includes displaying system time and camera name. OSD settings include : System time, time format, tim e display position, camera name, cam era name display position, etc.
Display mode : There are several display modes : Opaque&S teady , T ransparent&Steady , T ransparent&Flashing, Opaque&Flashing, Move “Active Frame” to “ OSD” item, you can select one mode.
Chapter 3.4). The camera name can support 32 chara cters. St e p 3 : Press 【 ENTER 】 key to exit ed it status. Move “Active Frame” to “C onfirm” button, press 【 ENTER 】 to save the modification and you can see the new cam era name. Press “Cancel” button or 【 ESC 】 key t o abort.
5.6 V ideo Parameters Setup For different camera and different background, in order to get the best video image, you need to adjust vide o parameters such as brightenss, saturation , contrast and hue , etc. Y ou can setup the camera indivi dually , and also you can copy the v ideo param eters of one camera to any ot her ca meras.
5.7 Mask Area Setup In some cases, m aybe you want mask the sensiti ve area. This area will not be prev iew and recorded. The mask area setup steps are following : St e p 1 : Enter into “Image Setup” menu : St e p 2 : Select o ne came ra : Y ou can use 【 Ç 】 【 È 】 keys to select one camera.
(22*15 for NTSC), you c an use 【↑】 【↓ 】 【→】 【←】 keys to move the y ellow pane to your hope po sition and press 【 EDIT 】 key , the yell ow pane will be turned into red, then you can use 【↑】 【↓】 【→】 【←】 keys to extend the red pane.
5.8 V iew T ampering Alarm If you enable this function, whe n someone blocks the c amera spitefully , DVR will make warning alarm. St e p 1 : Enter into “Image Setup” memu : St e p 2 : Select camera : Please use 【 Ç 】 【 È 】 keys to sele ct one cam era.
St e p 6 : Alarm schedule setup : When there is view tampering alarm happene d, DVR will handle the a larm based on the schedule. Y ou can set 4 per iods for each d ay one w eek. Also you can copy the schedule of one day to other days. Notes : T ime periods can not be repeated.
5.9 V ideo Loss Alarm When the video c able or camera has something wron g, the video im age is lost. If you enable video loss alarm , in such case, DVR will make alarm. St e p 1 : Enter into “Image Setup” menu : St e p 2 : Select camera : Use 【 Ç 】 【 È 】 keys to select one cam era.
St e p 5 : Setup alarm policy : Y ou can select one or more respo nse solutions, inc luding “On Screen W arning”, “Audible W arning”, “ Upload to Center” and “T rigger Alarm Output”. Y ou can use 【↑】 【↓】 and 【 EDIT 】 key to enable or disable them.
5.10 Motion Detection Alarm If you enable this funct ion, when there is m otion detected, DVR will make alarm . St e p 1 : Enter into “Image Setup” menu : St e p 2 : Select camera : Use 【 Ç 】 【 È 】 key to select one cam era. St e p 3 : Select motion dete ction sensitivity : On the right side of “ Motion Det.
The whole screen is divi ded into 22*18 pan es (NTSC : 22*15). There is one yellow panel on the upper left side. The motion area se tup steps are the s ame as that of m ask area setup (refer to chapter 5.7). The only differences are that you can use 【 PTZ 】 key to set the whole screen as motion area, a nd mutil m otion areas can be def ined.
St e p 6 : Motion alarm r ecord channel setup : When there is motion alarm happ ened, you can trigger relate d camera to start re cording. In “Motio n Alarm Handle” menu, yo u can select one or more record channel s. Please use 【 ENTER 】 or 【 EDIT 】 key to enabl e the flag into “ 9 ”.
5.1 1 Preview Properties In “Preview” menu, you ca n setup previe w mode, screen sw itch tim e, enable or disable audio preview and preview layout. St e p 1 : Enter into “Pr eview” menu : In the main menu, m ove “Active Frame” to “Preview” icon and press 【 ENTER 】 , you can enter into “preview” m enu.
Preview layo ut setup : There is a square frame divide d into many windows. If you select “4 Screen”preview m ode, this fram e is divided into 4 win dows. Each wind ow represents one camera. Y ou can move “Active Fram e” among the window s. There is one bar under the square to display the preview order of all cameras.
5.12 Recording Setup In main menu, there is an i con named “Recor ding”. Y ou can enter into recordin g menu as following : “Recording” menu description : If HD Full : There are two options : “Overwrite” and “S top recording”.
If you select varia ble bit rate, DVR will adjust the actual bit rate according to the video movement. When there is not m uch movement, DVR will use low bit rate, while there is much movement , DVR will use high bit rate . In this case, DVR can save HDD usage and network bandwidth.
Note : When the cam era’ s recording sch edule is modified, y ou must reboot DV R to make it into effe ctive. All day re cording setup : St e p 1 : Enter into r ecording schedule menu In recor.
St e p 1 : Enter into r ecording schedule menu In recording m enu, use 【 ENTER 】 or 【 EDIT 】 key to enable record functi on (“ 9 ” flag), press “Schedule” bu tton to enter into recording schedul e menu.
5.13 External Alarm Input and Relay Output For DVR-470, there are 4 external a larm inpu t and 2 relay out put. For DVR-1670, there are 16 external alarm input and 4 relay output.
St e p 4 : Alarm trigger record channel setup Y ou can sele ct channels to record for each alarm input. In the sub m enu, you can use 【 ENTER 】 or 【 EDIT 】 key to enable recor d channel.
First select one cam era, then select one of following PTZ linkage : z Preset : Set the flag as “ 9 ” to enable preset, in the preset num ber edit box and input one preset number tha t has been setup a lready . Please refer to chapter 5.15 for preset setup.
St e p 3 : Enter into alarm out schedule Y ou can set the schedule to m ake alarm output i n to ef fective. Move “Active Frame” to “Schedule” bu tton on right s ide of “Alarm Out T ime” .
5.14 Network Parameters If you want use ne twork to access DV R, you m ust setup network para meters. Note : If any network parameter is modified, you m ust save and reboot DVR to make it into effecti ve.
This DNS is special s oftware, not the normal dom ain name server . Y ou can use the provided SDK to develop this DNS software. Multicast IP : It is one D-class IP address, am ong 224.0.0.0 --- 239.255.255.255. If you do not use m u lticast functi on, you do n ot need to s et.
PTZ menu description Select channel : Select one PTZ camera. RS-485 parameters : Incl uding baudrat e, data bit, stop bit, parity , flow control, etc. These parameters must be the same as thos e of PTZ. Protocol. PTZ addr ess : Each PTZ has one dif ferent address.
Cruise setup : Cruise is remem bering the track of P TZ m ovement. Please make sure the PTZ you are using can s upport cruise function. Preset setup In “P TZ” menu, move “Active Frame” to .
In “Sequence” setup menu, first input the se quence num b er . The sequence is am ong 1 --- 16. Each sequence is m ade up of cruise points, and each c ruise point includes preset num ber , dwell time and dwe ll speed. Dwell tim e is the time staying at that pres et number .
Press “RecCru” button, you will e nter into “PTZ contro l” interface. Y ou can start controlling PTZ with direction keys, press 【 ENTER 】 to save the operation tr ack and return “Cruise” setup menu. Press “S tartCru” button to repeat th e PTZ track until you press “S top” button.
5.16 RS232 setup There is one RS-232 port at DVR rear pane l. In main menu, m ove “Active Frame” to “RS232” icon and perss 【 ENTER 】 key , you enter into “RS232” setup m enu : RS232 menu description RS-232 parameters : In cluding baud rat e , data bit, sto p bit, parity , flow control, etc.
Username, password and V erify passw ord : Only used when work mode is “PPP”. Used for login when remot e PC dialup throug h PSTN. Phone : Only used when work m ode is “PPP” and PPP mode is “Active”. It is the phone number of remote PC.
St e p 3 : Save setup In “Recording” menu, press “Confirm ” button to save parameters. St e p 4 : Setup Modem used on DVR side Use DCE calbe to connect Modem with PC serial port.

St e p 3 : Establish the dialup connection Select the Modem connected with PC just like the d ialup networ k connection , input the telephone nu mber connecte d with DVR’ s modem. Input the user name, password. They m ust be the same as that DVR PPP setup.
5.17 Exceptions The exceptions can be handled at present include : hard disk full, hard disk error , illegal access, IP address conflict, network fai lure, and NTSC/P AL dif fer . Enter into “Excep tions” menu : Including the fol lowing handl e methods : Audible W arning : DVR beep warning.
5.18 T ransaction Information The DVR can actively obtain or passively recei ve the credit card number from A TM machine linked throug h network or serial port, and credit card num ber can be overlay on live video, recorded and pl ayback.
Start & e nd position and length of transa ction type T ransaction type and c ode When the A TM machine is sending transacti on in formation to bank center , DVR will capture the data packa g e through netw ork, and analys e the data according to the format.
In the case, you m ust set the RS-232 of DVR as transparent channel m ode as following : A software must be run in the A TM machine, and send the credit c a rd number , transaction code to DVR through RS-232 port. Please provide deta il A TM machine comm unication protocol for actu al projects.
In the case, you m ust set the RS-232 of DVR as transparent channel m ode as following : Also, a software must be run in A TM machine, and send command to DVR throug h RS-232 port based on special communi cation protocol.
Chapter6 Utilities There are man y tools in “Uti lities” menu. Includi ng “SavePa ra”, “Resto rePara”, “Up grade”, “Hard Disk” , “Stop Alarm Out”, “Reb oot”, “Power Off”, “V iew Log” and “System Info ”. Enter into “Ut ilities” menu : 6.
6.3 Upgrade Y ou can use this function to upgrad e the firm ware. Please confirm the lan g uage is matched . Press “Upgr ade” icon, in the pop-up dialog, you can select eit her “FTP” or “USB ” upgrad e mode.
6.4 Hard Disk Management Check HDD work status Capacity , Free space, Stand by or not, Normal status or not. Format HDD Before formatting stop all recording. After form atting, you must reboot DVR, ot herwise DVR will not work norm ally . 6.5 Clear Alarm Out Clear the alarm output manually .
If you want to view the log based o n default option , just press 【 ENTER 】 key . DVR will list all matched inform ation. Also you can select options to search (By T ype, By Date, By T ype&Date). By T ype T o view log information of the ass igned type.
St e p 4 : When searching is finished, DVR will lis t all matched alarm inform ation. In the list box, the inf ormation includ es : Index, Occur T ime, Major T ype, Minor T ype, Panel User , Net User , Host Address, Para. T ype, Channel No, HDD No, Alarm In and Alarm Out.
6.9 System Information Press “System Info” icon in “Utilities” m e nu, you can g et DVR system information : Page 85.
Chapter7 Firmwar e Upgrade The DVR firmware is stored in FLA SH ROM. Y ou can use DVR upgrade function t o write the firmware file ( d igicap) into FLASH. There are two cases that you need to upgrade DVR firmware. One is update old fir mware. The other is when the code in DVR FLASH is crashed.
3. Select “Users/rights ” under “Security” menu item . The following dia log box will be pop-up. 4. Create new us er . Click “new user’. New user dialog pops up . Input user nam e “target”. Click “OK”. 5. In the password dial og, input password “t arget” in “New Password” a nd “V erify Password” edit box.
6. In the “User/Rights Security ” Dialog, select “User Name” as “tar get”. In “Home Directory” edit bo x, input the pat h where the firm ware file (digicap) is placed. Then press “Done” to exit. 7. Next tim e, you need not setup again, just d ouble click a nd open “wftpd3 2.
7.2 Upgrade Mode 1. Use client software to upgrade the f irmware file. Y ou do not need to use ftp s erver software. Please refer to the client softw are user manual for detail inform ation. 2. Use “FTP” function of “ Upgrade” sub menu in “Utiliti es” menu.
