2 About the Advanced MCACC Application The Advanced MCACC application software allows you to view graphs of the r everb characteristics of your listening environment on a PC.
3 Install this application on your PC by using the downloaded installer . Y ou will find the installer in the folder that you specified when you downloaded the application. 1 Double click the “PioneerAdvancedMCACC_e_ver_*_*.exe” file . The number after “ver” in the filename is the version number of the installer .
4 Installing the Application (Continued) 4 Click “Next”. The application is installed in the indicated folder , and a shortcut icon is created on the desktop. T o select a differ ent folder to install the application, click “Browse.” 5 Click “Finish”.
5 Operations on the Receiver and Cable Connections T o display r everberation characteristics measured with the receiver on your PC, you need to connect the receiver to the PC.
6 Operations on the Receiver and Cable Connections (Continued) 2 From the r eceiver ’ s “ Manual MCACC ” menu, select “ EQ Professional ” then “ Reverb Measurement ” to measur e the r everb characteristics of your room. (For details, see page 41 of the r eceiver ’ s Operating Instructions.
7 Application Operations This section explains operations that you do in the application, fr om receiving measurement data to displaying graphs and saving the data. Receiving measur ement data 1 Double click the application shortcut icon on the PC desktop.
8 Application Operations (Continued) Graph displays (names and functions of parts) When data is received, the first display to appear shows graphs for all channels (ALL display). This section explains the parts shown in ALL display and individual display .
9 1 Menu bar and menu icons Y ou can choose the following commands from the application menus. File Open Opens a file that has been saved on the PC (see page 13) . Close Closes a file. Save Save measurement data in a file (see page 12) . Save As Receive Receives measurement data (see page 7) .
10 Application Operations (Continued) 2 Date and time Display the date and time when the measur ement data was transferred to the PC. 3 Channel and frequency switch buttons Ch: Selects channel display mode (frequencies ar e displayed along graph depth axes).
11 9 Bar Graph Changes the type of graph display . The display switches between the band graph and bar graph by pressing this button. 10 File memo Allows you to recor d memos about conditions when the measurements wer e made. 11 Fr eq [Hz]/Channel In channel display mode, it becomes the fr equency axis.
12 Application Operations (Continued) Saving graphs in data files Y ou can save measurement data r eceived from the receiver on your PC. Data r eceived at one time is saved in one file. 1 T o save measure data, choose “Save” fr om the “File” menu.
13 Opening data files Y ou can open and display two or more data files to compar e the data in the files. 1 Select “ Open ” fr om the “ File ” menu in the menu bar . 2 Select a file to display and click “ Open ” . Graphs appear for the data saved in the file.

15 How to Interpret the Graphs (Continued) Deciding the time period for Advanced EQ Setup calibration When you are using Acoustic Cal EQ calibration (instead of EQ Pr ofessional calibration), the input data from the micr ophone is analyzed at fixed time periods from 80 to 160 msec (the r ed area in Figur e 1).
16 How to Interpret the Graphs (Continued) Pattern 2: Differ ent reverb characteristics for dif ferent channels When differ ent channels can have differ ent reverb characteristics, as shown in Figure 3, it is not so effective to calibrate using the Acoustic Cal EQ.
17 How to Interpret the Graphs (Continued) Checking steps to impr ove your room’ s r everb characteristics The reverb characteristics of your listening r oom graphs are evident fr om the graphs. For your refer ence, the following four examples explain how differ ent types of rooms appear in the graphs.
18 How to Interpret the Graphs (Continued) Case 3: Specific fr equency shows unusual reverb characteristics There is pr obably something in the room that af fects the reproduction of that fr equency . If possible, try to find an arrangement that reduces the ef fect.
19 Displaying r everb characteristics after calibration T o display the graph of your listening ar ea ’ s r everb characteristics with the equalization perfor med by this receiver (after calibration), you ’ ll need to select the “ EQ ON ” option fr om the “ Reverb Measurement ” menu.
20 In addition to the reverb fr equency characteristics data measured by Advanced MCACC, you can r eceive setting data from the r eceiver on your PC to check the data, and save the setting results on your PC. 21 Other Functions (Continued) 3 Check the save location, assign a file name, then click “Save”. The data is saved in a CSV format file (the file extension is “.csv”). Notes • In order to avoid malfunction, after the completion of the data transmission, unplug the RS-232C cable connecting your PC and the receiver .
22 Updating and Deleting the Application Updating the application A new installer is made available on the download site whenever the Advanced MCACC application is updated. Y ou can download the new installer and use it to overwrite (update) the application on your PC.
23 Updating and Deleting the Application (Continued) 3 Click “ OK ” . 4 Click “ Finish ” . This completes the updating of the application. T r oubleshooting If an er r or occurs when you click “ Repair ” and you ar e unable to pr oceed with the installation.
24 Updating and Deleting the Application (Continued) Deleting the application Y ou can use either of the following methods to uninstall (delete) the application from your PC. Method 1: Delete fr om the Control Panel of the PC From the Start menu, click “ Setting ” = “ Control Panel ” = “ Add/Remove Programs ” .

26 T r oubleshooting As you use the Advanced MCACC application, errors can occur for a variety of r easons, such as incompatibilities with other applications and the curr ent configuration of your PC. If an error occurs, r efer to the troubleshooting points below .
27 Cannot send measurement data to PC Cause 1: Random transmission err ors sometimes occur . Even if an error occurr ed on your first attempt, try sending the data again. Sometimes the transmission succeeds when you try again. Cause 2: Messages like the following may appear if a transmission err or occurs.
28 T r oubleshooting (Continued) Advanced MCACC cannot be updated Cause 1: An error message may appear if ther e are not enough system r esour ces available.
29 T r oubleshooting (Continued) Some functions in application operation cannot be used Cause: Y ou may not pr operly use the application software not corr esponding to your receiver . Check the model number of your r eceiver and use the application software corresponding to it.
