T o ensure safe driving WARNING ! T o avoid the risk of accident and the potential violation of applicable laws, no viewing of front seat video should ever occur while the vehicle is being driven. Also, rear displays should not be in a location where they are visi- bly distracting to the driver .

Using the remote control operation mode switch There are two remote control operation modes on the remote control. If you want to operate this unit by remote control, select DVH mode. In this case, both the head unit ’ s buttons and remote control can control this unit.
Use and care of the remote control Using the remote control 1 P oint the remote cont rol in the direction of the front pa nel to operate. When using for the first time, pull out the film protruding from the tray . Replacing the batter y 1 Slide the tray out on the back of the remote con- trol.
Built-in DVD player Basic operations Playing a disc 1 Insert the disc into the disc loading slot with the label side up. Ejecting a disc 1 Press h . Selecting a folder 1 Press a or b . Y ou cannot select a folder that doe s not have a compressed audio file, JPEG file or DivX file re- corded in it.
Specifying track Y ou can use the search function to specify a track to search for a desired track. ! This function is available for Video CD. ! This function cannot be operated during Video CD playback featuring PBC (playback control). ! T o per form this function, set the remote control to DVD mode.
Changing audio language during playback (Multi-audio) With DVDs that provides audio playback in different languages and different audio systems (Dolby Digital, DTS, etc.), you ca n switch between languages/audio systems during playback. ! This function is available for DVD video, DivX and Video CD.
P AUSE (pause) 1 Press M.C. to pause or resume. S.RTRV (advanced sound retriever) Automatically enhances compressed audio and re- stores rich sound. ! This function is available for CDs and compressed audio files. 1 Press M.C. to display the setting mode.
Displaying text information The operation is the same as that of the compressed audio on the built-in DVD player . Refer to Displaying text information on page 15. Selecting files from the file name list The operation is the same as that of the built-in DVD player .
Setting the subtitle language Y ou can set a desired subtitle language. When avail- able, the subtitles will be displayed in the selected language. 1 Move the thumb pad up or down to select SUBTI- TLE LANG. in LANG. 2 Click the thumb pad. A subtitle language menu is displayed.
Setting parental lock Some DVD video discs let you use parental lock to re- strict children from viewing violent and adult- oriented scenes. Y ou can set parental lock to the desired level. ! When you have a parental lock level set and play a disc featuring parental lock, code number input indications may be displayed.
CLOCK SET (setting the clock) 1 Press M.C. to display the setting mode. 2 Press M.C. to select the segment of the clock dis- play you wish to set. Each time you press M.C. , one segment of the clock display is selecte d. Hour — Minute 3 T urn M.C. to adjust the clock.

Handling guidelines Discs and player Use only discs featuring any of following logos. Use 12-cm discs. Do not use 8-cm discs or an adapter for 8-cm discs. Use only conventional, fully circular discs. Do not use shaped discs. Do not insert anything other than a DVD (-R/-RW) or CD (-R/-RW) into the disc loading slot.
