Connecting up 02 15 En English Using other types of video output This player has standard (composite), S-video and component video outputs, as well as an HDMI connector (for digital video/audio). The main difference between them is the quality of the picture.
Connecting up 02 16 En This connector can output standard (composite), S-video or RGB component video. The default setting is standard, which should work with all TVs. Consult the manual that came with your TV to see if you can use one of the higher quality settings.

Getting Started 04 30 En Chapter 4 Getting Started Setting the TV system The default setting of this player is AUTO , and unless you notice that the picture is distorted when playing some discs, you should leave it set to AUTO . If you experience picture distortion with some discs, set the TV system to match your country or region’s system.
Getting Started 04 31 En English • DV-868AVi only – The front panel POWER button switches the player on and off. When the player is off, it can only be switched back on using the same front panel button. When the player is on, you can put it into standby using the STANDBY/ON button on the remote control.

Getting Started 04 36 En Playing discs The basic playback controls for playing DVD, CD, SACD, Video CD/Super VCD and MP3 discs are covered here. Further functions are detailed in the next chapter. • Throughout this manual, the term ‘DVD’ means DVD-Video, DVD-Audio and DVD- R/RW.
Getting Started 04 37 En English Front panel controls The (play), (stop), and (pause) buttons on the front panel work in exactly the same way as their remote control equivalents. The combined scan/skip buttons on the front panel ( and ) work slightly differently from the remote buttons.
Getting Started 04 38 En Video CD/Super VCD PBC menus Some Video CD/Super VCDs have menus from which you can choose what you want to watch. These are called PBC (Playback control) menus.
Getting Started 04 39 En English • After I load a DVD disc, it ejects automatically after a few seconds! Most likely, the disc is the wrong region for your player. The region number should be printed on the disc; check it against the region number of the player (which you can find on the rear panel).
Getting Started 04 40 En You can’t hear multi-channel DVD-Audio using the HDMI interface. Make sure that DVD-Audio Out is set to 2 Channel (see DVD-Audio Out on page 78) for a stereo downmix (note that some discs will not allow you to do this).
