Attaching the front panel 1 Slide the front panel to the left until it clicks. F ront panel and the head unit are jointed on the left side. Make sure that the front panel has been jointed to the head unit. 2 Press the right side of the front panel until it is firmly seated.
Using the remote control P oint the remote control in the direction of the front panel to operate. ! The remote control may not function prop- erly in direct sunlight. Important ! Do not store the remote control in high tem- peratures or direct sunlight.
What ’ s what Head unit 1 LIST button P ress to display the disc title list, track title list, folder list, file list or preset channel list depending on the source. 2 SOURCE/OFF button This unit is turned on by selecting a source. P ress to cycle through all the available sources.
P ress and hold to return to the main menu when operating the menu. d BAND button P ress to select among three FM bands and one AM band. P ress to return to the ordinar y display when operating the menu. Remote control Operation is the same as when using the but- tons on the head unit.

Built-in CD Player Basic Operations The built-in CD player can play back audio CD (CD-DA) and compressed audio (WMA/MP3/ AAC/WA V) recorded on CD -ROM. (Refer to page 51 for files that can be played back.) Read the precautions for discs and player on page 48.

Pausing playback % Press e (pause) on the remote control to turn pause on. Playback of the current track pauses. # T o turn pause off , press e (pause) again. Note Y ou can also turn this function on or off in the menu that appears by using MUL TI-CONTROL .

REPEA T (repeat play) — RANDOM (random play) — SCAN (scan play) — P AUSE (pause) — SOUND RETRIEVER (sound retriever) Function and operation REPEA T , RANDOM , SCAN , P AUSE and SOUND RETRIEVER operations are basically the same as that of the built-in CD player .

Selecting songs from album list of currently playing artist Album list of the currently selected artist is displayed. Y ou can select an album or song from the artist name. ! Depending on the number of files in the iP od, there may be a delay when displaying a list.
Introduction of audio adjustments 1 Press MUL TI-CONTROL to display the main menu. 2 Use MUL TI-CONTROL to select AUDIO. T urn to change the menu option. P ress to se- lect. 3 T urn MUL TI-CONTROL to select the audio function. T urn MUL TI-CONTROL to switch between the audio functions in the following order .
Display Equalizer curve POWERFUL P ower ful NA TURAL Natural VOCAL V ocal CUSTOM Custom FLA T Flat SUPER BASS Super bass ! CUSTOM is an adjusted equalizer cur ve that you create. If you make adjustments to an equalizer cur ve, the equalizer cur ve set- ting is memorized in CUSTOM .
Adjusting loudness Loudness compensates for deficiencies in the low- and high-sound ranges at low volume. 1 Use MUL TI-CONTROL to select LOUDNESS in the audio function menu. 2 Press MUL TI-CONTROL to display the setting mode. 3 Use MUL TI-CONTROL to select the de- sired setting.
Using the high pass filter When you do not want low sounds from the subwoofer output frequency range to play from the front or rear speakers, turn on the HPF (high pass filter). Only frequencies higher than those in the selected range are output from the front or rear speakers.
Adjusting initial settings 1 Press SOURCE and hold until the unit turns off. 2 Press MUL TI-CONTROL and hold until CLOCK SET appears in the display . 3 T urn MUL TI-CONTROL to select one of the initial settings.
2 Press MUL TI-CONTROL to display the setting mode. 3 T urn MUL TI-CONTROL to select the AM tuning step. T urning MUL TI-CONTROL will switch the AM tuning step between 9 kHz and 10 kHz. The se- lected AM tuning step will appear in the dis- play . # Y ou can also per form the same operations by pushing MUL TI-CONTROL up or down.
Notes ! Even if you change this setting, there is no output unless you turn the subwoofer output on (refer to Using subwoofer output on page 25). ! If you change this setting, subwoofer output in the audio menu return to the factor y settings.

Using the AUX source Up to two auxiliar y devices such as VCR or portable devices (sold separately) can be con- nected to this unit. When connected, auxiliar y devices are automatically read as AUX sources and assigned to AUX1 or AUX2 . The relation- ship between AUX1 and AUX2 sources is ex- plained below .
Using the exter nal unit External unit refers to a Pioneer product (such as ones available in the future) that, although incompatible as a source, enables control of basic functions with this unit. T wo external units can be controlled with this unit.
Playing songs on iPod Basic operation Y ou can use this unit to contr ol an inter face adapter for iP od, which is sold separately . % Fast forward or reverse P ush and hold MUL TI-CONTROL left or right. % Select a track P ush MUL TI-CONTROL left or right.
Playing songs in a random order (shuffle) % Press repeatedly to select the de- sired setting. ! SONGS – Play back songs in the selected list in random order . ! ALBUMS – Play back songs from a ran- domly selected album in order . ! OFF – Cancel random play .

Registering a connected cellular phone 1 Use MUL TI-CONTROL to select SET PHONE in the function menu. 2 Press MUL TI-CONTROL to display the setting mode.
2 Press MUL TI-CONTROL to tur n auto- matic connection on. If your cellular phone is ready for Bluetooth wireless connection, connection to this unit is automatically established.

Setting automatic answering 1 Use MUL TI-CONTROL to select AUTO ANSWER in the function menu. 2 Press MUL TI-CONTROL to tur n auto- matic answering on. # T o turn automatic answering function off , press MUL TI-CONTROL again. Switching the ring tone 1 Use MUL TI-CONTROL to select RING TONE in the function menu.
# If you do not operate functions other than ITS MEMOR Y and TITLE INPUT within about 30 seconds, the display automatically returns to the ordinar y display . # When playing a CD TEXT disc on a CD TEXT compatible multi-CD player , you cannot switch to TITLE INPUT .
3 Press MUL TI-CONTROL to display the setting mode. 4 T urn MUL TI-CONTROL to select the de- sired track. 5 Press MUL TI-CONTROL to select MEMOR Y. # If DELETE is displayed, turn MUL TI-CONTROL to display MEMOR Y . 6 Press MUL TI-CONTROL to memory the track.
5 Press MUL TI-CONTROL to delete the CD. All tracks on the currently playing CD are de- leted from your playlist and MEMOR Y DELETED is displayed. Using disc title functions Y ou can input CD titles and display the titles. Then, you can easily search for and play a de- sired disc.
Storing and recalling broadcast stations Y ou can easily store up to 12 broadcast sta- tions for later recall. ! 12 stations for each band can be stored in memor y . 1 Press LIST. P reset screen is displayed. 2 Use MUL TI-CONTROL to store the se- lected station in memory .
