Keep moving upward or downward ; Changes the map scale continuously. p This operation is available only while the map screen is displayed. Moving MUL TI-CONTROL to the lef t or right ; Allows you to change the frequency one step at a time; operates track search con- trols.
Inserting an SD memory card % Insert an SD memory card into the SD card slot. Insert it with the contact sur face facing to the left and press the card until it clicks and com- pletely locks. p This system is not compatible with Multi Media Card (MMC).
Connecting and disconnecting an iPod CAUTION ! T o prevent data loss and damage to the sto- rage device, never remove it from this naviga- tion system while data is being transferred. ! If data loss or corruption occurs on the sto- rage device for any reason, it is usually not possible to recover the data.
3 T ouch the language that you want to use for the voice guidance. The navigation system will now restart. 4 T ouch [Destination] to display Destina- tion menu. The disclaimer appears. Read the disclaimer carefully , checking its details, and then touch [ OK ] if you agree to the conditions.

What you can do on each menu 1 T op Menu P ress the MENU button to display the “ To p Menu ” . This is the starting menu to access the desired screens and operate the various functions. 2 Destination Menu Y ou can search for your destination on this menu.
How to use the map Most of the information provided by your navigation system can be seen on the map. Y ou need to be- come familiar with how information appears on the map. How to read the map screen This example shows an example of a 2D map screen. p Information with the mark (*) appears only when the route is set.
This key will be displayed while you activate the dummy run ( “ Fly over ” or “ Demo Mode ” ). T ouch the key to cancel the dummy run. = F or details, refer to Demo Mode on page 112. = F or details, refer to Playing simulated tra- vel at high speed on page 42.
p This information is based on the map data- base. Thus, the information may differ from actual conditions. Use it as just a direc- tional reference for your driving.
2 Move MUL TI-CONTROL down or up to zoom in or out. Moving MUL TI-CONTROL upward or down- ward once allows you to change the map scale one step at a time. Holding MUL TI-CON- TROL while moving it up or down allows you to change the scale sequentially.
3 T ouch anywhere on the map briefly to show the tilt controls and rotation angle. Controls for tilt and rotation angle p T ouching hides the tilt controls and rota- tion angle. 4 T ouch the controls to adjust the tilt and rotation angle. The basic flow of creating your route 1 P ark your vehicle in a safe place, and apply the handbrake.
2 Cur rent page/total pages 3 Returns the previous screen. 4 T ouching or on the scroll bar scrolls through the list and allows you to view the re- maining items. 5 Listed items T ouching an item on the list allows you to nar- row down the options and proceed to the next operation.
CAUTION For safety reasons, these route-setting functions are not available while your vehicle is in motion. T o enable these functions, you must stop in a safe place and put on the handbrake before set- ting your route. p Some information regarding traffic regula- tions depends on the time when the route calculation is per formed.
5 T ouch the key next to “ City: ” to enter the city name. 6 Enter the city name or postcode. ! When the options are narrowed down to six or less, those are automatically listed. ! If you want to list the options matching to the current information entered, touch [ Done ].
If only one option is appropriate for your entry, the screen will jump to the “ Map Confirmation Screen ” directly and the pro- cess of entering the street name or house num- ber will be skipped. If you do not want that location, touch to retry with another ad- dress.
6 T ouch one of the options at the bottom of the “ Map Confirmation Screen ” to select the next operation. T ouch [ Route... ] then [ Go Here Now ] to set your selected position as your destination and calculate the route up that point.
1 T ouch [Destination] on the “ T op Menu ” , and then touch [POI]. 2 T ouch [Register Search Criteria]. 3 T ouch one of the items on the list. ! Selecting an item that has already been stored allows you to overwrite it. 4 T ouch the search method that you want to put into memory .
7 Enter the name and then touch [Done] to complete the entry . The storing process is complete and the short- cut is available on “ Saved Criteria ” . Searching for POIs by using the memorised sequence Y ou can search for POIs with using the pre- stored shortcut.
Searching for POIs by using the data on external storage devices (USB, SD) Creating a customised POI is possible by using the utility programme “ NavGate FEEDS ” which is available separately, on your PC. ( “ NavGate FEEDS ” will be available on our website.
1 T ouch [Destination] on the “ T op Menu ” , and then touch [Route Function]. 2 T ouch [Coordinate]. 3 T ouch either the latitude key or the longitude key , whichever you want to enter . The values on the latitude key or longitude key shows the coordinates on the cursor just be- fore entering this screen.
T ouch [ Route... ] then [ Go Here Now ] to set your selected position as your destination and calculate the route up that point. = F or details of other operations on the “ Map Confirmation Screen ” , refer to What you can do with the “ Map Confirmation Screen ” on page 35.
2 T ouch the entry you want. 3 T ouch one of the options at the bottom of the “ Map Confirmation Screen ” to select the next operation. T ouch [ Route... ] then [ Go Here Now ] to set your selected position as your destination and calculate the route up that point.
2 T ouch the entry you want. If no route has been set yet, the saved route is recalled and the guidance will start im- mediately . Searching for a locat ion by scrolling the map Specifying a location after scrolling the map enables you to set the position as an operable target in the “ Map Confirmation Screen ” .
What you can do with the “ Map Confirmation Screen ” Under most conditions after searching for a location, the “ Map Confirmation Screen ” appears, so you can select the next operation. The options shown below are available on this screen: Map Shows a full-screen 2D map centred on the cursor position.

Setting the location as the start point When there is no route, only the starting point can be set. Other wise, the new route from the starting point to the current destination will be recalculated. 1 T ouch [Route...] on the “ Map Confirmation Screen ” .
1 Search for a location or position the cursor on the desired area by scrolling the map and displaying the “ Map Confirmation Screen ” . 2 T ouch [Save as...] on the “ Map Confirmation Screen ” . 3 T ouch [Add Pin]. The pin icon is placed on the map and the screen returns to the map screen.
Storing the locat ion in “ Favourites ” Storing your favourite locations as “ Favour - ites ” provides you with the opportunity to save the time and effort of re-entering this informa- tion. Stored items can be made available on “ Favourites ” later .

Checking the current route conditions The “ Route Information ” screen provides you with various detailed information about the current route. This is an example showing a route with two waypoints. p This function is available only when the route is set and your vehicle position is on the route.
3 T ouch [Dest.] to switch to the first way- point screen. The “ Route Information (to via) ” screen ap- pears. 4 T ouch [Via] to switch to the second waypoint screen. The “ Route Information (to via) ” screen for next waypoint appears. 5 T ouch [Via] to return to the screen for whole route.
Alternative options: ! Detailed Instructions All turning points, passed streets and other information is shown. ! Instructions All turning points (where voice guidance is given) are shown. ! Road List Displays the turning points in the most sim- plified form (duplicated route names are merged into one).
Editing waypoints Y ou can edit waypoints (locations you want to visit on the way to your destination) and recal- culate the route so that is passes through these locations. Adding a waypoint 1 Search for a location. = F or more details, refer to the descriptions from page 24 to page 34.
3 Enter the name and then touch [Done] to complete the entry . The previous screen appears. p Saved route can be recalled later . = F or details, refer to Setting a route by recal- ling a saved route on page 33. Deleting the entry in “ Saved Routes ” 1 T ouch [Destination] on the “ T op Menu ” , and then touch [Saved Routes].
Y ou can view current traffic conditions and in- formation. When the navigation system re- ceives updated traffic information, it will overlay the traffic information on your map and also display detailed text information when available.
The information of RDS- TMC station current ly turned in Available options; ! “ Exclude selected station ” Disables reception of the current station, so that the reception of any undesired station can be stopped temporarily . ! “ Show excluded stations ” Displays the list of your excluded stations.
Hands-free phoning overview CAUTION For your safety , avoid talking on the phone as much as possible while driving. If your mobile phone features Bluetooth ® tech- nology , this navigation system can be con- nected to your mobile phone wirelessly. Using this hands-free function, you can operate the navigation system to make or receive phone calls.
Searching for nearby phones The system searches for available mobile phones near the navigation system, displays them in a list, and registers them for connec- tion. 1 Activate the Bluetooth wireless tech- nology on your mobile phone. F or some mobile phones, no specific action is necessar y to activate Bluetooth wireless tech- nology .
5 T ouch the model name of the mobile phone to be connected. The system searches for mobile phones featur- ing Bluetooth technology that are waiting for the connection and displays them in the list if the device has found. p If you cannot find the desired model name on the list, touch [ Other phones ] to search the mobile phones available nearby .
Connecting a registered mobile phone The navigation system automatically connects the mobile phone selected as the target of connection. However , connect the mobile phone manually in the following cases: ! T wo or more mobile phones are registered, and you want to manually select the mobile phone to be used.
Receiving a phone call Y ou can per form hands-free answering by using the navigation system. Answering an incoming call The system informs you that it is receiving a call by displaying a message and producing a ring sound. If [ Auto Answer Preference ] is set to [ Off ], answer the call manually .
Direct dialling 1 T ouch [Dial Pad] on the “ Phone Menu ” . = F or details, refer to Displaying the Phone Menu on page 48. The direct dial screen appears. 2 T ouch the number keys to enter the phone number . The phone number that was input is dis- played.
2 If you touch an entry on the list, dial- ling starts. p If you touch [ Detail ], you can check the de- tails of the party before making a phone call.
p If you have not registered your home num- ber , a message appears. T ouch [ Ye s ]t o start registration. = F or more details about “ Set Home ” , refer to Setting your home position on page 117.
p Y ou can send the phone book entries re- peatedly before touching [ OK ]. If your mo- bile phone supports one-by-one transfer only , send all the entries that you want to transfer before touching [ OK ]. p If your phone has a capability for automatic transfer of phone book, this screen is skipped and transfer will start.
= F or details concerning operations, refer to Answering an incoming call on page 52. Stopping Bluetooth wave transmission Y ou can stop transmission of electric waves by turning off the Bluetooth function. If you do not use the Bluetooth wireless technology, we recommend selecting [ Off ].
Setting automatic connection When automatic connection is active, the na- vigation system will automatically establish a connection with a registered phone when it comes into range. Using this feature avoids all of the processes for establishing a connec- tion.
Registration and connection ! Mobile phone operations var y depending on the type of mobile phone. Refer to the instruction manual that came with your mobile phone for detailed instructions. ! With mobile phones, phone book transfer may not work even though your phone is paired with the navigation system.
p Registered phones that are listed on [ Con- nection ] are cleared by the software up- date. 1 T ouch [Phone Settings] on the “ Phone Menu ” . = F or details, refer to Displaying the Phone Menu on page 48. 2 T ouch [Bluetooth Software Update]. The current version is displayed.
Y ou can play a normal music CD using the built-in drive of the navigation system. This section describes how . 1 Insert the disc you want to play into disc-loading slot. Playback starts from the first track of the CD. 2 T ouch [DISC] on the “ A V Source ” menu to display the “ CD ” screen.
Selecting a track from the list The list lets you see the list of track titles, file names or folder names on a disc and select one of them to play . 1 T ouch [List]. 2 T ouch the track you want to play . The track currently playing is highlighted. T ouching or switches the selection to the next or previous page in the list.
Y ou can play a disc that contains compressed audio files using the built-in drive of the navi- gation system. This section describes these operations. p In the following description, the MP3, WMA, AAC, WA V files are collectively re- ferred to as “ Compressed audio file ” .
= F or details, refer to Recalling equaliser cur ves on page 123. 3 Display the “ Function ” menu = F or details, refer to Using the “ Function ” menu on the next page. 4 Select the previous or next folder p T ouching these keys enables you to se- lect the previous or next folder and play- back the first track on the folder .
p For WAV files, only the information marked with (*) can be displayed. p If you operate no functions for about 30 sec- onds, the display automatically returns to the ordinary display . Using the “ Function ” menu 1 T ouch [DISC] on the “ A V Source ” menu to display the “ ROM ” screen.
Y ou can play a DVD - Video using the built-in drive of the navigation system. This section de- scribes operations for playing a DVD-V ideo. p AVIC -F710BT cannot play DVDs. Reading the screen 1 Sour ce icon Shows which source has been selected.
= F or details, refer to Using the “ Function ” menu on page 69. 3 Display the DVD menu Y ou can display the menu by touching [ Menu ] or [ TOP M. ] while a disc is playing. T ouching either of these keys again lets you start play- back from the location selected from the menu.
Resuming playback (Bookmark) The Bookmark function lets you resume play- back from a selected scene the next time the disc is loaded. T ouching [ B.Mark ]: Y ou can bookmark one point for each of up to five discs. If you tr y to memorize another point for the same disc, the oldest bookmark will be overwritten by the newest one.
3 T ouch the desired menu item. Using DVD menu by touch panel keys If items on the DVD menu appear at the bot- tom of the screen, the touch panel keys may overlay them. If so, select an item using those touch panel keys. 1 T ouch [ a ], [ b ], [ c ]o r[ d ] to select the desired menu item.
When playing DVDs recorded with LPCM audio, you can switch the audio output. T ouch [ L/R Select ] repeatedly until the de- sired audio output appears in the display .
Y ou can play a DVD - VR (DVD Video Recording F ormat) disc using the built-in drive of the na- vigation system. This section describes opera- tions for DVD-VR discs. p AVIC -F710BT cannot play DVD- VR discs. Reading the screen 1 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 2 1 Sour ce icon Shows which source has been selected.
p Moving MUL TI-CONTROL left or right enables you to perform the equivalent operations. 6 Playback and Pause T ouching [ f ] switches between “ playback ” and “ pause ” .
! T o select 71 minutes 00 seconds, touch [ 7 ], [ 1 ], [ 0 ], [ 0 ] and [ Enter ] in order . p T o cancel the input numbers, touch [ Clear ]. Switch the playback mode Y ou have two methods for playing DVD-VR discs; Original (original) and Playlist (play- list).
Using the “ Function ” menu 1 T ouch [DISC] on the “ A V Source ” menu to display the “ DVD-VR ” screen. = F or details concerning operations, refer to Screen switching over view on page 16. 2 T ouch the screen to display the touch panel keys.
Y ou can play a DivX disc using the built-in drive of the navigation system. This section de- scribes that operations. p AVIC -F710BT cannot play DivX files. T o select 10, touch [ 1 ] and [ 0 ] and [ Enter ]i n order . For time (time search) ! T o select 5 minutes 03 seconds, touch [ 5 ], [ 0 ], [ 3 ] and [ Enter ] in order .
Configure the DVD-Video/DVD- VR/DivX player . Displaying DVD Setup menu 1 Play the disc that contains DVD-Video, DVD-VR or DivX. 2 T ouch [DISC] on the “ A V Source ” menu to display the normal playback screen. = F or details concerning operations, refer to Screen switching over view on page 16.
Setting the aspect ratio There are two kinds of displays. A wide screen display has a width-to-height ratio (TV aspect) of 16:9, while a regular display has a TV aspect of 4:3. If you use a regular rear display with a TV aspect of 4:3, you can set the aspect ratio suitable for your rear display.
Displaying your DivX VOD registration code In order to play DivX VOD (video on demand) content on this navigation system, you first need to register the unit with your DivX VOD content provider . Y ou do this by generating a DivX VOD registration code, which you submit to your provider .

Y ou can play the compressed audio files stored in the external storage device (USB, SD). p In the following description, the SD mem- or y card and USB memor y device are col- lectively referred to as the “ external storage device (USB, SD) ” . If it indicates the USB memor y device only, it is referred to as the “ USB storage device ” .
Shows the artist name currently playing (when available). a Album title indicator* Shows the title of the album for the current track (when available). b Playback condition indicator The marks shown below appears and indi- cates the current playback condition.
Selecting a track from the list The list lets you see the list of track titles or folder names on an external storage device (USB, SD). T ouch a folder on the list to view its contents. T ouch a track on the list to play that track. 1 T ouch [List]. 2 T ouch the folder that you want to view .
p If you turn [ Random ]t o “ On ” while the repeat play range is set to “ T rack ” , the repeat play range changes to “ Folder ” automatically . 3 Scan folders and tracks Scan play lets you hear the first 10 seconds of each track. Scan play is per formed in the current repeat play range.
Y ou can play the video files stored in the exter- nal storage device (USB, SD). p In the following description, the SD mem- or y card and USB memor y device are col- lectively referred to as the “ external storage device (USB, SD) ” . T o select 5 minutes 03 seconds, touch [ 5 ], [ 0 ], [ 3 ] and [ Enter ] in order . ! T o select 71 minutes 00 seconds, touch [ 7 ], [ 1 ], [ 0 ], [ 0 ] and [ Enter ] in order .
Using the USB inter face cable for iPod en- ables you to connect your iP od to the naviga- tion system. p A USB inter face cable for iP od (CD -IU230V) (sold separately) is required for connection. Starting procedure % Connect your iPod. The source changes and then playback will start.
p If characters recorded on the iP od are not compatible with this navigation system, they may turn into garbled characters. Using the touch panel keys ( Music ) 4 2 3 5 7 8 9 a 1 6 1 Album artwork T ouch the key to enlarge the album artwork. If you touch again, the artwork returns to its nor- mal size.
2 T ouching or switches the selection to the next or previous page in the list. 3 T ouch the item that you want to refine. Refine the item until the track title is displayed on the list. p T ouching [ All ] on the list includes all op- tions in the current list.
3 T ouch your desired item on the list to narrow down them until the video list ap- pears. = F or details concerning operations, refer to Browsing for a video on this page. 4 On the video list, touch the video you want to play . 5 T ouch the screen to display the touch panel keys.
Narrowing down a video with the list 1 T ouch the category you want. 2 T ouching or switches the selection to the next or previous page in the list. 3 T ouch the item that you want to refine. Refine the item until the track title is displayed on the list.
! Albums — Selects an album randomly , and then plays back all songs in that album in order 3 Setting the audiobook play speed While listening to an audiobook on iP od, playback speed can be changed.
Y ou can listen to the radio by using the naviga- tion system. This section describes operations for radio (FM). The functions related to RDS (Radio Data Sys- tem) are available only in areas with FM sta- tions broadcasting RDS signals.
p Y ou can cancel seek tuning by touching either [ c ]o r[ d ] briefly . p If you touch and hold [ c ]o r[ d ], you can skip broadcasting frequencies. Seek tuning will start as soon as you re- lease the keys. p Moving MUL TI-CONTROL left or right enables you to perform the equivalent operations.
Displaying radio text Y ou can display the currently received radio text and the three most recent radio text trans- missions. 1 T ouch [T ext] to display radio text. Radio text for the currently broadcasting sta- tion is displayed. p When no radio text is received, “ No T ext ” is displayed.
1 T ouch [BSM]. 2 T ouch [Start] to start “ BSM ” . BSM begins to flash. While BSM is flashing, the six strongest broadcast frequencies will be stored under the preset tuning keys [ P1 ]t o [ P6 ] in order of their signal strength. When this is complete, BSM stops flashing.
Receiving traffic announc ements TA (traffic announcement standby) lets you re- ceive traffic announcements automatically, no matter what source you are listening to.
Activating the Auto PI seek for preset stations When preset stations cannot be recalled, as when travelling long distances, the unit can be set to perform PI Seek during preset recall. p The default setting for Auto PI Seek is off . = F or details, refer to Switching Auto PI seek on page 128.

Y ou can listen to the radio using this naviga- tion system. This section describes operations for radio (AM). % T ouch [AM] on the “ A V Source ” menu to display the “ AM ” screen. = F or details concerning operations, refer to Screen switching over view on page 16.
Storing and recalling broadcast frequencies With a touch of any of the preset tuning keys ([ P1 ]t o[ P6 ]), you can easily store up to six broadcast frequencies for later recall (also with the touch of a key).
2 T ouch [ c Prev] or [Next d ] to set the sen- sitivity . There are two levels of sensitivity for AM. Level: 1 — 2 p The level “ 2 ” setting allows reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive weaker stations.
Y ou can display “ video image ” output by AV 1 Input or A V2 Input to the screen of the navi- gation system. For details of the connection method, refer to “ Installation Manual ” . CAUTION For safety reasons, video images cannot be viewed while your vehicle is in motion.
The options in the “ Navi Settings ” menu Basic operations in the “ Navi Settings ” menu Preferences related to the navigation functions can be set. A method for changing the volume setting for the navigation guidance and beep is described here, along with an operational example.

Adjusting the equaliser curves Y ou can adjust the currently selected equaliser cur ve setting as desired. Adjustments can be made with a 3-band parametric equaliser . The difference between “ Custom1 ” and “ Custom2 ” ! A separate Custom1 cur ve can be created for each source.

Setting the anti-theft function Y ou can set a password for the navigation sys- tem. If the back-up lead is cut or the RESET button is pressed af ter the password is set, the navigation system prompts for the password at the time of next boot up. Nothing is displayed and the touch pa nel keys cannot be used. The setting for the rear view camera is incorr ect. Select the appropriate setting for the rear view camer a.
The icon 9 is displayed, and op- eration is not possibl e. The operation is not compatible with the video configur ation. This operation is not possible. (F or example, the DVD playing doe s not feature that angle, audio system, subtitle language, etc.
If the screen becomes frozen... P ark your vehicle in a safe place, and turn off the engine. T urn the ignition key back to “ Acc off ” . Then start the engine again, and turn the power to the navigation system back on. If this does not solve the problem, press the RESET button on the navigation system.
