Befor e Y ou Install 1 Choose a location for the base near an electrical outlet and a telephone jack. This phone requires a modular telephone jac k and a standard electrical outlet (110v A C) not controlled by a wall switc h. 2 Install the handset battery.

3 INST ALLA TION Use only the pow er cord supplied with this product. If you need a replacement, call 1 800 222–3111. 3 Charge the handset battery. Place the handset in the base. Charge the battery for at least 24 hours the first time. After the first charge, the batter y is typically fully charg ed overnight.

7 TELEPHONE OPERA TION T emporary T one Dialing If you hav e dial pulse (rotar y) ser vice, you can chang e from dial pulse to touch tone dialing during a call by pressing * . This is useful if you need to send touch tone signals f or access to telephone banking or long-distance ser vices.

17 BA TTERIES Charging the Handset Ba tter y P ack This batter y should remain charg ed up to six days with the ringer turned on and up to 12 days with the ring er of f. A fully charg ed batter y provides an aver a ge talk time of about six hours. The batter y pack needs charging when: • A new battery is installed in the handset.

19 IN C ASE OF DIFFICUL TY If y ou hear noise or interference when using the phone: • Make sure the base antenna is full y upr ight. • Y ou may be out of r ange. Move closer to the base. • Press and release C to c hange to another of the 30 c hannels available.
20 IN C ASE OF DIFFICUL TY If y ou ha ve difficulty hearing messages: Check the volume setting. If the system does not answ er after the correct number of rings: • Make sure that the ans wering system is on. • If T oll Saver is on, the number of r ings chang es to two when you hav e new messages w aiting.
