Installation T able/desk installation 2 Installation Installation 1. Install batteries to pr ovide pow er for the lighted dial pad. Pr ess the batter y cover tab and r emov e the cover . Install four ne w alkaline AA batteries (not included). Be sure to f ollow the polarity guide in the batter y compartment.
2. Set the t one/ pul se swi tch . If yo u ha v e touch ton e se rvic e , set the swi tch to TT ( tone ). If y ou ha v e dial pul se (r ota r y) s er vic e, set the sw itch to D P ( pulse ). 3. Connect the handset to the telephone. Plug the coiled cord into the handset jack on the left side of the base unit.
5. Check for dial tone. Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone. If you cannot hear a dial tone, slide the VOLUME switch to the right. If you still do not hear a dial tone, see the In case of difficulty section beginning on page 15 of this user’s manual.

2. Set the tone/pulse switch. If you have touch tone service, set the switch to TT (tone). If you have dial pulse (rotary) service, set the switch to DP (pulse).
5. Connect the handset to the telephone. Plug the coiled cord into the handset jack on the left side of the base unit. Plug the other end of the coiled cord into the handset, then hang up. 6. Connect the line cord to a modular wall jack and mount the phone on the wall jack as shown.

An sw er a cal l When you hear the phone ring and the ringing indicator turns on, you have an incoming call. Lift the handset to answer the call. This telephone can store 13 telephone numbers, each up to 16 digits long. You can dial numbers stored in memory by pressing one or two buttons. Di r ect ory ca r d Lift the plastic cover off the directory card to write the numbers (or names) stored in telephone memory on the card.
