1 1 Familiarisation - CRUISE CONTROL The cruise control has a display on the instrument panel which indicates the programmed reference speed. It enables the vehicle to maintain a constant speed, programmed by the driver . In order to be programmed or ac- tivated, the vehicle speed must be above 25 mph (40 km/h), with at least fourth gear engaged.

The adjustment is correct when the upper edge of the head re- straint is level with the top of the head. T o remove the head restraint, place it in the top position, press the tabs and pull it upwards.

50 - Seats INST ALLING CHILD SEA TS SECURED USING THE SEA T BEL T In accordance with the European regulation (Directive 2000/3), the table presented indicates the options for the installation of child seats secured using the seat belt and universally approved (a), in accordance with the weight of the child and the seat in the vehicle.
51 - Seats ADVICE ON CHILD SEA TS The incorrect installation of a child seat in a vehicle compromises the child’s protection in the event of an accident. Remember to fasten the seat belts or the child seat harnesses keeping the slack in relation to the child’s body to a minimum, even for short journeys.
52 - Seats SEA T BEL TS Seat belt height adjustment T o lower or raise: slide the control downwards or upwards. Fastening the seat belts Pull the strap, then insert the end into the buckle. Check that the seat belt is fastened correctly by pulling the strap.
53 - Seats Wherever you are seated in the vehicle, always fasten your seat belt, even for short journeys. Do not invert the seat belt buckles as they will not fulfil their role fully . If the seats have armrests*, the lap part of the seat belt must always pass under the armrest.
54 - Access and starting THE KEYS The keys allow you to switch on the ignition and operate the passenger air bag disarming switch as well as to independently operate the locks on the doors and the fuel filler cap.
55 - Access and starting ELECTRONIC ENGINE IMMOBILISER This locks the engine control sys- tem as soon as the ignition has been switched off and therefore prevents starting of the vehicle by anyone who does not have the key . The ignition key has an electronic chip which has a special code.

BONNET STRUT Secure the strut to hold the bonnet open. Before closing the bonnet, re - place the strut in its housing.

66 - Visibility On vehicles fitted with this stalk, in the AUTO position, the wipers op- erate automatically and adapt their speed to the intensity of the rain- fall. For the other positions, when not in AUTO mode, refer to the operation of the windscreen wipers.
67 - Visibility TRIP COMPUTER Pressing the button on the end of the wash/wipe stalk enables the follow- ing data to be displayed: Screen B - the range - the distance travelled - the average consumption - the current consumption - the average speed - return to the date display Zero reset Press the stalk for more than two seconds.
68 - Visibility ELECTRIC WINDOWS 1. Driver ’ s electric window switch 2. Passenger electric window switch Always remove the ignition key when leaving the vehi- cle, even for a short time. If an obstacle is encountered while the electric windows are in use, you must reverse the movement of the window.
69 - Visibility Manual exterior mirrors Move the lever in all four directions to adjust. When the vehicle is parked, the ex- terior mirrors can be folded back manually . Passenger side exterior mirror electric control From the driver’s seat, move the con- trol 1 in all four directions to adjust.

72 - Comfort and safety STEERING WHEEL HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT When stationary , lower the handle to unlock the steering wheel. Adjust to the desired height and lift the handle to lock the steering wheel. HEADLAMP ADJUSTMENT Depending on the load in your vehi- cle, it is recommended that the head- lamp beam is adjusted.
73 - Comfort and safety LASHING RINGS Use the 6 lashing rings on the lug- gage compartment floor to secure your loads. Y ou can use suitable load retainers (half-height partitions, grille, etc.) supplied by your PEUGEOT dealer . For greater safety , always ensure that the loads trans- ported are stowed securely .
74 - Driving HANDBRAKE Applying When parking, pull the handbrake to immobilise your vehicle. Illumination of this warning light and of the STOP warn- ing light, accompanied by an audible signal (while the vehicle is moving), indicates that the handbrake is still applied or has not been released fully .
76 - Driving SPEED LIMITER This limiter indicates the status of selection of the function on the in- strument panel and displays the programmed speed. The minimum speed which can be programmed is at least 18 mph (30 km/h).
77 - Driving Exceeding the programmed speed Pressing the accelerator pedal in or- der to exceed the programmed speed will have no effect unless you press the pedal firmly beyond the point of resistance . The limiter is deactivated temporarily and the programmed speed which is still displayed flashes.
8 - SEA TS Driver and passenger seats 1 - Head restraint height adjustment. Never travel with the head restraints removed. 2 - Armrest. 3 - Seat back angle adjustment.
80 - Driving AUDIBLE REAR P ARKING ASSIST ANCE This system consists of four detec- tors, located in the rear bumper , and a special speaker which emits an au- dible signal. This detects any obstacle (person, vehicle, tree, gate, etc.) behind the vehicle.
Practical information 88 - CHECKING THE LEVELS Oil level Check the level regularly and top up between changes. The maximum consumption is 0.5 l per 600 miles (1 000 km). Check the level with the vehicle level, engine cold, using the oil level gauge on the instrument panel or the dip- stick.

9 Familiarisation - AIR BAGS The air bag system has been de- signed to maximise the safety of the occupants in the event of serious col- lisions. It works in conjunction with the pretensioning seat belts.
