5 PENTAX PHOTO Labora tory 2.0 Performs color separa tion p rocessin g and oth er proc essing on CC D RAW image data record ed in PENTA X digital cam era dedic ated format, ther eby enabling image s t o be sa ved so a s to ap pear o n com mercial ly-av ailab le image vi ewing and editin g soft ware.
6 USB Connection • Macintosh with Mac OS 9.01/9.2/X (Ver. 10.1, 10.2 or 10.3) preinstalled. • USB po rt must b e stan dard equi pment. * Ins tallatio n of the USB dri ver is not nec essary. Application Softwar e <PENT AX PH OTO B rowser 2.0 and PE NTAX P HOTO Labor atory 2.
7 Installing the Software Here is the procedu re for i nstalli ng PEN TAX PHOT O Bro wser 2.0 and PENTA X PHOTO Labor atory 2.0 . PENTAX PHO TO Brows er 2.0 and PEN TAX PHO TO Labor atory 2.0 can be insta lled o n top of ear lier v ersion s of this software suppl ied wi th w .
8 4 Click [PENTAX Digital Camera Utilit y]. 5 Select your applic able language in the Select Language screen and cli ck [OK ]. 6 The instal ler st arts. Cl ick [Next ]. Some op erating en vironm ents selec t the la nguage aut omatic ally. Co ntinue with the insta llation in s tep 6 .
9 7 Confirm th e folder name in the Destinati on Folder to which the program files are t o be install ed. Click [Next ] if no need to change. 8 Click [Next ] to begi n the inst allat ion. Copying of the program files begins. 9 A message appears after install ation of the software is finished.
10 Ple ase c lick [Pro duct Regi stra tio n] on th e softw are sele ction scr een in step 4 (p.8). A world map for Internet Product Registrati on is dis played. If your PC i s co nnected to the Inte rnet, click the disp layed count ry or r egion and then foll ow the ins truction s to regis ter your pr oduct.
11 1 Turn your Maci ntosh on. Close any other software that is open. 2 Place the provided CD-ROM (S-SW28) into the CD-ROM drive on your Macintosh. 3 Double-click the CD-ROM (S- SW28) icon. The contents of the CD-ROM are displayed. 4 Double-click t he [PENTAX Inst aller ] icon .
12 6 Click [PENTAX Digital Camera Utilit y]. The installation starts. 7 The message [Installat ion was successful.. ..] appea rs. Click [Qui t]. Ple ase c lick [Pro duct Regi stra tio n] on th e softwa re selec tion sc reen in s tep 6 ( p.12 ) . A world map for Internet Product Registrati on is dis played.
13 Savi ng I mages on Y our C omp uter Here is the pr ocedure for saving i mages captured with y our digi tal camera onto your compute r. This sec tion d escrib es the me thod for savin g image s by conne cting your camera and co mputer wi th the US B ca ble, as we ll as other me thods.
14 6 Press the 4 button on the camera. 1 Turn your PC on. 2 Turn off your camera and use the USB cable to connect your camer a and your PC. Confirm that an SD Memory Card is inserted into your camera. 3 Turn your c amera on. The camera is recognized as a [Removable Disk] in [My Computer].
15 Windows XP is u sed as a n exam ple he re. 1 Click [My Computer] from the start menu. 2 Double-cli ck the [Removable Disk] icon. 3 Double-cli ck the [DCIM] icon. The [XXXPENTX] (XX X is a three-digi t number) folder appears. The camera image files are in this folder.
16 Window s X P 1 Double-cli ck the [Safely Remov e Ha rdwar e] ico n in th e task bar. The [Safely Remove Hardware] screen appears. 2 Confirm that [USB Mass Storage Device] is sel ected and the n click [ Stop]. The [Stop a Hardware device] screen appears.
17 Window s Me /200 0 1 Double-cli ck the [Unplug or Eject Hardware] icon i n the task bar. The [Unplug or Eject Hardware] screen appears. 2 Confirm that [USB Mass Storage Device] is sel ected and the n click [ Stop]. The [Stop a Hardware device] screen appears.
18 J is us ed as an e xampl e here. W hen usi ng w , [Transfer Mode] does not ne ed to be set. Go to “ Con necting t he Camer a and Macintos h” ( p.19). 1 Press the 3 but ton on the camera. The [ A Rec. Mode] menu or the [ Q Playback] menu appears.
19 1 Turn on your Macintosh. 2 Turn off your camera and use the USB cable to connect your camer a and your Maci ntosh. Confirm that an SD Memory Card is inserted into your camera. 3 Turn your c amera on. Your camera is recognized on the desktop as [NO_NAME (or the volume label of the SD Memory Card if one is registered)].
20 Mac OS X (Ver . 10.2) i s used a s an exam ple he re. 1 Double-click t he [NO_NAME] icon on t he desktop. 2 Double-cli ck the [DCIM] icon. The [XXXPENTX] (XX X is a three-digi t number) folder appears. The camera image files are in this folder. 3 Double-cli ck the [Maci ntosh HD] icon on the desktop.
21 4 Drag and drop the [XXX PE NTX ] fold er in to an y desired folder , such as the [Mac in tosh HD] fo lder . The camera images are saved into the [Macintosh HD] folder as an entire folder. 1 Drag [NO_NAME (or the volume labe l name on the S D Memory Card)] on the deskt op to the t rash can.

38 Display the im ages saved on yo ur comp uter. 1 Open PENTAX PHOTO Browser 2.0. Viewing Images.
39 2 In the folder tr ee, select the folder containing th e image file to view . Images in the selected folder appear as thumb nails in the Thumbnail pane. 3 Select an image in the Thumbnail pane. Select one of the follo wing methods for viewing an image: • Click the image to view.
40 • Click the image to view and then select [Check Selected Image] - [Invert Selection] from the [Edit ] menu. 4 Select [Open] fr om the [File] menu or click the icon on the Tool bar. The main image window op ens and the image appears. Double-click the image file to v iew in the Thumbnail pane.
41 The ima ge in the im age vi ew area ca n be ro tated 90 °, 180°, o r 270° to th e right (clock wise) or left (co unterclockwi se). 1 Select [ Rotate View ( Clockwise 90°)] or [Rotate Vi ew (Countercloc kwise 90°) ] from the [Vie w] menu in t he main image window.

43 Reduced view You can al so enlar ge or redu ce the view by directl y inputting the nume rical value of the magnificat ion in the View Magnificat ion box on the Tool bar.
44 You ca n set whet her to show or hide the To ol bar and im age data pane in the main i mage w indow. 1 Select [Tool Bar] or [Image Data] from th e [View] menu in the main imag e window and uncheck the i tem. The Tool bar or image data pane is hidden.
45 You can save the dis played i mage using any of the following file for mats. RAW data c an be saved with any of the se formats to view the i mage with image processi ng so ftware.
