1 To users of this ca mera • Do not use or store this device in the vicini ty of equipment that generates strong electromagnetic radiation or magnetic fields.
2 • Some portions of the camera heat up during use. There is a risk of low temperature burns when holding such portions for long periods. • Should the monitor be damaged, be careful of glass fragm ents. Also, be careful not to allow the liquid c rystal to get on your skin or in your eyes or mouth.
3 • Do not drop the product, or subject it to violent impact. 48 Getting Started 2 Attach ing th e Strap 1 Pass the end of the strap through the protec tive cover and triangula r ring. 2 Secure the end of the strap on t he inside of the clasp. 3 Attach the other end of the str ap in the same manner as describe d above.
49 Getting Started 2 Inserting th e Battery Insert the b attery into the cam era. Use only a D-LI90 battery. When usi ng the battery for the firs t time, or when th e battery has not been used in a long tim e, or when [Battery dep leted] appears, rec harge the battery.
50 Getting Started 2 When using the battery for t he firs t time, charge the bat tery and insert i t into the camera. 1 Open the battery cover. Lift the battery cover unlock knob, turn it towards OPEN ( 1 ) to unlock, and then pull the cover open ( 2 ).

53 Getting Started 2 We rec ommend the use of the AC adapter k it K-AC 50 (optio nal) when using th e monitor for a long time or whe n connec ting the came ra to a compu ter or AV device. 1 Make sure the camera is turned off. 2 Open the terminal cover.

55 Getting Started 2 Inserting/Removing an SD Memory Car d This camera uses either an SD Me mory Card or an S DHC Memory Card (commercial ly available). Bo th cards are re ferred to as SD Me mory Cards hereafter . Make sure the c amera is turned off bef ore insertin g or r emoving the SD Memory Card.

Next, set the time. If you select [12h] in S tep 4, the camera switches between am and pm depending on the time.
3 Basic Operations This chapter explai ns basic operati ons for shooting by setting mode dial to Green mode (automatic exposur e according to th e program line set to j ) to ensure successful capturin g. For information about advanced functions and settings for taking pi ctures, refer to chapter 4 and onward.

Use of the flash in this way is called Dayli ght-Syn c shooting. [Flash On] is used when sh ooting with Dayligh t-Sync shoot ing.
