A. V erify the opening is plumb and level. N ote: It is critical that the bottom is level. 1 ROUGH OPENING PREP ARA TION REMEMBER T O USE APPR OPRIA TE PERSONAL PR O TECTIVE EQUIPMENT . B. V erify the windo w will fit the opening. M easure all four sides of the opening to make sure it is 1/2" larger than the windo w in both width and height.
D. F old the water r esistiv e barrier (1D). F old side and bottom flaps into the opening and staple to inside wall. F old top flap up and temporarily fasten with flashing tape. % &YUFSJPS ' & ( E.
B. Windows using F rame Screws: On the roomside of vent windows, drill 13/64" diameter clearance holes thr ough the head, jambs and sill of the frame. S pace the holes using the maximum end and on center spacings as shown on the placement diagram.
3 SETTING AND F ASTENING THE WINDOW TWO OR MORE PEOPLE WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THE FOLL O WING STEPS. " *OUFSJPS # # & A. Insert the windo w from the exterior of the building. Place the bottom of the window on the spacers at the bottom of the opening, then tilt the top into position.
A. Apply side flashing tape . C ut two pieces of flashing tape 5" longer than the frame height of the window . Apply the tape 1/2" onto the frame cladding, ov er the fin and laps onto the water resistive barrier . The tape should extend 2" abov e the top of the window and 3" below the bottom of the window .
B. Drill 1/8" x 1" deep pilot holes into the rough framing through the clearance holes in the unit frame. C. F asten the windo w to the opening by driving #10 x 3-1/2" corrosion resistant wood scr ews into each of the pre-drilled clearance holes.
8 SEALING THE WINDOW TO THE EXTERIOR W ALL CLADDING When applying siding, brick veneer or other exterior finish material, leave adequate space between the window fr ame and the material for sealant. Refer to the illustration that corresponds to y our finish material.
INTERIOR FINISHING If products cannot be finished immediately , cover with clear plastic to pr otect from dirt, damage and moisture. R emove any construction residue befor e finishing. Sand all wood surfaces lightly with 180 grit or finer sandpaper .

(T o open the window for finishing, partially insert the lock handle into the jamb, unlock the unit, temporarily attach the cr ank handle and turn to open.
