Using a standard W eb browser , you can remotely monitor up to 16 cameras from up to f ive DX8100 HVR se rvers simultane ously .

The DX8100 comes eq uipped with a built-in use r account name d “Guest.” Each time the uni t is turned on , the Guest ac count is aut omatically act ivated.

Th e DX8100 in cludes 36 view panels that ca n display came ras from up to five connected HVR sites. For information about view panels, refer to Working with Vi ew Panes and Panels on page 30.

C2630M-C (7/09) 41 Removing a Linked Relay Output from an Alarm Input T o u nlink a relay from an alar m: 1. On the DX8100 toolbar , click the Live button . 2. In the Site T ree, click the plus sign (+) next to the alarm input from which you wa nt to remove the relay output.
42 C2630M-C (7/09) W orking in Live V iew Mode This section describes ho w to use the D X8100 to view a nd record live video. All users can vi ew live video f rom the main wind ow . Users with PTZ access rights (Standard User by default) and higher can operate the on-scre en PTZ controls.
C2630M-C (7/09) 43 SETTING UP FAVORITES The DX8100 Favor ites menu allows you to organize and save ca mera views. For example, you might wa nt to display ca mera views tha t show the delivery gate ent.
44 C2630M-C (7/09) ORGANIZING FAVORITES IN FOLDERS As your list o f favorites g rows, you can keep them or ganized by creating folders. Y ou can organize your camera views by site na me, user name, and so fort h. For exampl e, you coul d create a fo lder named D ay Shift fo r displaying camera views f or the day shi ft.
C2630M-C (7/09) 45 Moving Existing Favorites to a Folder T o move an existing favorite to a folder: 1. Create a favorites folder (refer to Creating a Favorites Folder on page 44). 2. From the DX8100 menu ba r , cl ick Favorite > O rganize Favorit es.
46 C2630M-C (7/09) LIVE VIEW ON-SCREEN DISPLAY ( OSD) The DX8100’ s OSD cons ists of camera and site information that is su perimposed on each view pane. Each display item in the OS D c an be customized for both live an d playback viewing. Figure 15 shows the parts of the Live View OSD pane.

From the DX8100 menu ba r , ch oose View > OSD and th en select th e items you wan t to add to or delete from t he OSD.

C2630M-C (7/09) 51 ADJUSTING THE CAMERA LENS The keypad is hidden in the extended view mode. In this case, select the stan dard view mode to display the keypad. T o switch between the standard and extended view mode: • From the DX81 00 menu bar , choose View > Ex tended View .
52 C2630M-C (7/09) USING KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS TO OPERA TE PTZ AND LENS FUNCTIONS Users with PTZ access rights (Sta ndard User by default) and higher can us e a computer keyboard to operate PTZ an d lens function s of camer as that support such fe atures.
C2630M-C (7/09) 53 PTZ PRESETS A preset is a user -defined camera position using PT Z and focus commands the (camera’ s auto focus option must be turn ed off). On ly cameras that support po sitioning and p rogramming u sing D, P , Coaxitron, or su pported third-party proto cols can use this feature.
54 C2630M-C (7/09) 5. Using the PTZ keypad, select a number for the new preset (for exa mple, select 1). 6. Click the Preset button to store the preset in the selected memory location. 7. Repeat steps 4-6 for each preset yo u want to program. 8. Click the Set button again to exit programming mo de.
C2630M-C (7/09) 55 CLEARING A PRESET T o clear a preset: 1. On the PTZ keypad, click the Set button to enter prog ramming mode. 2. Click the number of the preset you want t o clear from the PTZ keypad. 3. Click the Clr button . 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to clear multiple preset s.
56 C2630M-C (7/09) PROGRAMMING A PATTERN This section describes how to pr ogram a pattern. Cert ain PTZ devices, such as Pelco’ s Spec tra series domes, will display an on- screen message stating the a mount of re maining memory ava ilable for p attern progra mming.

C2630M-C (7/09) 61 SENDING AUXILIARY COMMANDS TO A DEVICE The DX8100 auxiliary featur e allows you to control ex ternal equipment co nnected to the aux iliary outputs of Spectra domes or Es prit positioning systems. The auxiliary function is implemented through the D protocol and P protocol.
62 C2630M-C (7/09) CONFIGURING PRESET T O URS A preset to ur allows a camer a to move thro ugh a progr ammed sequen ce of PTZ pr esets. The D X8100 Series H VR can store up to four preset tours. While four to urs can be programmed, only one tour can be activated at a time.

66 C2630M-C (7/09) USING THE KBD300A KEYBOARD The KBD300A allo ws you to operate certain DX81 00 live view display functions and control came ra PTZ operations from a keyboard, rath er than a mouse. When connect ed to the D X8100 ser ver , the KBD300A sup ports two mode s: the Stan dard mode and the Shift mode.
C2630M-C (7/09) 67 KBD300A SHIFT Key Mo de Features The KBD300A SHIFT key allo ws you to control certain DX8100 op eration features in the Sit e T ree from the keybo ard. This section describes the KBD300A SHIFT key features. The SHIFT key is ef fective within the DX8100 Site T ree .

Like live video, recorded video is viewed from the camer a view pane ls on the main screen . C2630M-C (7/09) 69 PLAYBACK CONTROLS Use the playback cont rols to start playback, control directio n, and adjust speed. On the playback co ntrol, click the Stop butto n at any time to return to live view. The playback controls are hidden in th e extended vie w mode.

The timeline includes a horizontal slide r that can be mov ed to select playback time over a 24-hour pe riod.
