C2630M-B (4/08) 13 DX8100 W EB CLIENT The DX8100 Web Client allows you to view live video an d operate pan , tilt, and zoom ( PTZ) features of cameras att ached to DX810 0 DVRs. Using a standard W eb br owser , you can remotely mo nitor up to 16 cameras from up to five DX8100 DVR servers simul taneously .

C2630M-B (4/08) 17 Logging In to the DX8100 Application T o a ccess the featur es of the DX8 100 Series DVR, you must log in with a valid user name and p assword. The DX8100 comes eq uipped with a built-in use r account name d “Guest.” Each time the uni t is turned on , the Guest ac count is aut omatically act ivated.
18 C2630M-B (4/08) EXITING TO THE WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM Y ou must have Ad ministra tor user access to exit to Windows. Refer to Definition of User Access Levels on page 193 fo r informatio n on users’ security leve ls. Y ou must have a Windows passwor d to exit t o the Windows ope rating system.

Objects can be selected by clicking the left mouse butto n once, and th en linked by d ragging and d ropping th e icon into a view pane or another sit e tree item.

C2630M-B (4/08) 41 SETTING UP FAVORITES The DX8100 Favor ites menu allows you to organize and save ca mera views. For example, you might wa nt to display ca mera views tha t show the delivery gate ent.
42 C2630M-B (4/08) ORGANIZING FAVORITES IN FOLDERS As your list o f favorites g rows, you can keep them or ganized by creating folders. Y ou can organize your camera views by site na me, user name, and so fort h. For exampl e, you cou ld create a folder named D ay Shift fo r displaying camera views f or the day shi ft.

44 C2630M-B (4/08) LIVE VIEW ON-SCREEN DISPLAY ( OSD) The DX8100’ s OSD cons ists of camera and site information that is su perimposed on each view pane. Each display item in the OS D c an be customized for both live an d playback viewing. The following figure shows t he Live View OSD pane .
C2630M-B (4/08) 45 CUSTOMIZING THE ON- SCREEN DISPLAY (OSD) Users with Guest User access and higher can add and delete on-screen display items. T o cust omize the on-scr een display: 1. From the DX8100 menu ba r , ch oose View > OSD and th en select the items you want to add to or delete from t he OSD.

Place the mouse pointer in the middle of the ca mera’ s view pane. The mouse pointer will ch an ge to a black cross when on-scree n PTZ control is a vailable.
C2630M-B (4/08) 49 ADJUSTING THE CAMERA LENS The keypad is hidden in the extended view mode. In this case, select the stan dard view mode to display the keypad. T o switch between the standard and extended view mode: • From the DX81 00 menu bar , choose View > Ex tended View .
50 C2630M-B (4/08) USING PC KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS TO OPE RATE PTZ AND LENS FUNCTIONS Users with PTZ access rights (Stand ard User by default) and high er can use a PC keyboard to operate PTZ a nd lens functions of c ameras that support suc h features. P TZ and lens functions ca n be controlle d in Live mode using the ke yboard.
C2630M-B (4/08) 51 PTZ PRESETS A preset is a user -de fined camera position using PTZ and fo cus commands the (camera’ s auto focus op tion must be turned off). On ly cameras that support po sitioning and p rogramming u sing D, P , Coaxitron, or su pported third-party proto cols can use this feature.
52 C2630M-B (4/08) 5. Using the PTZ keypad, select a nu mber for the new preset (for exam ple , select 1). 6. Click to store the preset in the selected memory loca tion . 7. Repeat steps 4-6 for each preset yo u wa nt to program. 8. Click again to exit prog ra mming mode .

58 C2630M-B (4/08) SENDING AUXILIARY COMMANDS TO A DEVICE The DX8100 auxiliary featur e allows you to control ex ternal equipment co nnected to the aux iliary outputs of Spectra domes or Es prit positioning systems. The auxiliary function is implemented through the D protocol and P protocol.
C2630M-B (4/08) 59 CONFIGURING PRESET T O URS A preset to ur allows a camer a to move thro ugh a progr ammed sequen ce of PTZ pr esets. The D X8100 Series D VR can store up to four preset tours. While four to urs can be programmed, only one tour can be activated at a time.

C2630M-B (4/08) 63 USING THE KBD300A KEYBOARD The KBD300A allo ws you to operate certain DX81 00 live view display functions and control came ra PTZ operations from a keyboard, rath er than a mouse. When connect ed to the D X8100 ser ver , t he KBD300A su pports two modes: the Standard mode and the Shift mode.
64 C2630M-B (4/08) KBD300A SHIFT MODE OPERATIONAL FEATURES The KBD300 A Shift mode allows yo u to control certain DX8 100 operation feat ures in the Site tr ee from the keyboard . This section describes th e KBD300A Shift mo de features/f unctions. Th e Shift mode i s effective within the DX81 00 Site tree.

Like live video, recorded video is viewed from th e camer a vie w pane ls on the main screen. Refer to Switching Between Standar d and Extended Pan el Views on page 28 f or informa tion on view panels.
66 C2630M-B (4/08) PLAYBACK CONTROLS Use the playback cont rols to start playback, control directio n, an d adjust speed. Click at any ti me to return to live view. The playback controls are hidden in th e extended view mode. In thi s case, select the standard vi ew mode to disp lay the playba ck controls.

90 C2630M-B (4/08) VIEWING A V IDEO THUMBNAIL After the search has been comp leted, a seri es of thumbnails appear on the scre en below th e search grid. Ea ch thumbnail con tains the first image of recorded video fo r the listed time period. • Double-clicking a thum bn ail will cause it to begin playing.
C2630M-B (4/08) 91 V IEWING V IDEO IN THE DEINTERLACED MODE Images recorded at 4CIF at a low frame ra te per se cond migh t mo ve or tear . In this case, you can use the View menu’ s Deinterlac ed Image option to enhance the displaye d image.
92 C2630M-B (4/08) Exporting V i deo Users with export access rights (Powe r Users and Administrators by default) can e xp or t sections of prerecorded video to ma gn eti c or opti cal media. The DX8100 must b e in th e Playback or Search mode to expo rt video.
