C3648M (7/08 ) 5 Important Safety Instructions The DX8100-ISCI SCSI card must be installed inside the DX8100 chassis. T o do so, the DX8100 must be taken offline and turned of f before starting the upgrad e process. Before contin uing the upgrad e procedure, read these safety instru ctions.
6 C3648M (7/08) Introduction Welcome to the extern al video sto rage upgrad e for the DX8100 Se ries digital video recorder (DVR). The exte rnal video storage up grade includes the DX8100-ISCI SCSI card an d the DX8100H DDI (Infortrend ® EonStor ® A12U- G2421).
C3648M (7/08 ) 7 Parts List and T ools DX8100-ISCI SCSI CARD T o install the DX8100 -ISCI SCSI card, you will also need a nonmagnetic Phill ips screwdriver #1, a properly grounded ESD wri st s trap and mat, and four small containers (optional ) to store s crews.

12 C3648M (7/08) MOVING THE MAIN CAPTURE CARD In the DX8108 and DX8116 base DVRs, the main capt ure card is installed in slot 2. T o install the DX 8100-ISCI SCSI card, the mai n ca pture card must be moved from slot 2 to slot 3. The DX8100-ISCI SCSI card must be physically inst alled in slot 2.
C3648M (7/08 ) 13 2. Move the main capt ure card (ref er to Figure 5): a. Remove th e capture c ard from slo t 2 and fir mly seat th e capture c ard in th e PCI conne ctor for sl ot 3. b. Secure the ca pture card brac ket with the screw . c. Reconnect the 5-wir e TV/Audio cable.

C3648M (7/08 ) 15 Installing a New DX8100 and DX8100HDDI System When ordered together , the DX8100 or DX8116 and DX8100HDDI unit s come preconfigured from the factory. The DX8100-ISCI SCSI card is already installed and th e units are ready for insta llation.

C3648M (7/08 ) 17 CONNECTING THE DX8100 HDDI TO THE DX8100 Refer to Figure 13 to pe rform the following steps: 1. Plug one end of the VHDCI-to-V HDCI SCSI cable into port CH 1/ A on the DX8100-ISCI SCSI card. 2. Plug the other end of th e SCSI cable to the DX8100 HDDI CH0-In connector .
