6 C2673M-D (8/10) Description The DX4500/DX4600 Ser ies digital video recorder (DVR) is the latest gene ration in entry-level DVRs. E quipped with an embedd ed o perating system, the DVR offers camera capacity , features, and functionality exceeding other DVRs.

C2673M-D (8/10) 9 Before Y ou Begin Before you install the DX4500/DX 4600 DVR, thoroughly familiarize yourself with the information in this manual prior to ins talla tion and operation. Also, review the package c ontents to ensure tha t it contains all of the p arts listed below .
10 C2673M-D (8/10) IMPORTANT INFORM ATION W ORKSHEET Installing the DX4500 /DX4600 DVR on a network will require suppo rt from your network administrator . The minimum network require ments for DX4500/DX4600 Seri es DVRs include a switched Ethernet LA N with a band width of 100 M bps.

C2673M-D (8/10) 17 System Overview As the next genera tion DVR, the DX4500/DX4600 is the solution for small to multiple-site applications. The DX 4500/DX4600 remote client -to- server connectivity allows op eration from a remote location and can connect up to 16 serve rs simultaneously .

20 C2673M-D (8/10) CONNECTING PTZ CAMERAS PTZ devices c an be connecte d to the DX450 0/DX4600 using the two RS-422/RS- 485 ports loca ted on the ba ck of the unit : DA T A 1 and DA TA 2. PTZ camera co ntrol is achieved by using the resp ective protocol for that camera.
C2673M-D (8/10) 21 CONNECTING ALARMS The DX4500/DX46 00 provides a numbered te rminal bloc k for connecti ng alarm devi ces. Alarms a re programmed for normally open or n ormally closed inputs. Eight-chan nel DVRs support up to 8 alarm devices; 16-channel DVRs support up to 16 a larm devices.
22 C2673M-D (8/10) CONNECTING RELAY OUTPUTS The DX4500/DX46 00 provides a numbered te rminal block f or connecti ng relays device s. Relay outp uts are not p rogrammable, an d by design are configured to operate as norm ally open circuit s. A signal from a rela y output will oper ate the device con nected to the ou tput.

C2673M-D (8/10) 27 SETTING THE SYSTEM LANGUAGE The DX4500/D X4600 supports 12 la nguages; English (Unit ed States) is the de fault language. Y ou must log on with adm inistrator le vel permission to change the langua ge.
