C2968M-A (10/09) 7 Description The KBD300USBKIT is a requir ed accessory if you want to interfac e the KBD300A keyboard to the DX 4500/DX4600 Seri es digital vide o recorder (DVR). The KBD300US BKIT is also required to control ce rtain functions of the Digit al Sentry ® (DS) ControlPoint software.
8 C2968M-A (10/09) Installation DX4500/DX4600 SERIES DVR DX4500/DX4600 DVRs now support th e use of the KBD300A ke yboard. Y ou must insta ll the KBD300USBKIT to co nnect a KBD300A keyboard to a DX4500/DX46 00. NOTES: • DX4500/DX4600 ver sion 1.2 DVRs do n ot support Pelco C (Coaxitron) protocol, regar dless of soft ware version.
C2968M-A (10/09) 9 Keyboard Data and DIP Switch Cover: Contains the key board configura tion switches . Use the swit ches to conf igure the keyb oard address and oper ational mode (ref er to Figure 2).
10 C2968M-A (10/09) Downloading Software Updates 1. Go to http://www .pelco.com/software/downloads/dvr/ and locate th e information i n the “DX4500 a nd DX4600 Series” se ction of the pa ge. 2. Download the update sof tware and copy it to the r oot director y of an empt y USB drive.
C2968M-A (10/09) 11 5. From the Sy stem menu, cl ick Update. The Update settin gs box appe ars (refer to Figure 3). Figure 3. Update Settings 6. Click the Update prop erty . The Update settings box changes color . 7. On the front p anel, press the SHIFT b utton, and then pre ss the SET button.
12 C2968M-A (10/09) 9. Click OK. Wh en the system lo cates the soft ware update fi le on the USB drive, the syst em installs th e application so ftware. Af ter the update process is complete, you a re prompted to restart t he DX4500/D X4600. Figure 5.
C2968M-A (10/09) 13 Computer: The computer on which DS Co ntrolPoint is running. KBD300A Keyboard: Controls PTZ cameras connecte d to the computer . A 25-foot (7.6 m) RJ-45 cable is supplied with th e keyboard. The RJ-45 co nnects the terminal bloc k to the KBD30 0A keyboard.
14 C2968M-A (10/09) INSTALLING THE KBD300A T o install the KBD30 0A keyboard: 1. Attach t he KBDKIT power supp ly to the RJ -45 wall block, but do not co nnect the p ower supply to a power sour ce. Refer to Figur e1 o n page 8 and T able A on page 9 for inform ation about setting up the RJ -45 wall block for a DX4500/DX4600.
