C1475M-C (9/08) 3 Important Safety Instructions Prior to installation an d use of this product, the fo llowing WAR NI NG S should be observed. 1. Installation and servicing sh ould be done only by qu alified service personnel and co nform to all local codes.
4 C1475M-C (9/08) Description The DF5S Seri es fixed mount dome is designed for i ndoor use where t here is limited sp ace above the cei ling. The dome can be ins talled in hard ceilings or standard 2 x 2 ft ( 61 x 61 cm) suspended ceilings. The back box requires only 2.
C1475M-C (9/08) 5 Hard Ceiling Installation 1. Locate the cent er point of the mo unting location. D rill a hole in the ceil ing using a 3/32-i nch drill. Insert t he compass too l into the hole. Use a pencil and the compass tool to draw a circle o n the ceiling.
6 C1475M-C (9/08) 2. Attach a con duit fitting (not supplied), safety c hain bracket, and lock nut (not supplied). Install a safety chain /cable (not supplied) that will support up to 16 pounds (7. 3 kg). Install on e end of the sa fety chain/cable to the safety chain bracket an d the other end t o a suppor t structure in th e ceiling.
C1475M-C (9/08) 7 Suspended Ceiling Installation 1. Remove the ceiling tile from the ceil ing. Insert th e compass tool (s upplied) into the ce nter of the ti le. (If necessary , use a 3/32-inch bit to dr ill a hole.) NOTE: The ceiling t ile cannot be thinner than 0 .
