1.0 W ARRANTY INFORMA TION Patton Electronics warrants all Model 1 140RC components to be free from defects, and will—at our option—repair or replace the product should it fail within one year from the first date of shipment.
3.0 CONFIGURA TION This section describes the location and orientation of the Model 1 140RC’ s configuration switches and jumpers, and provides detailed instructions for all possible settings. The Model 1 140RC uses a combination of DIP switches and jumpers that allow configuration to an extremely wide range of applications.

S2-4 and S2-5: RTS/CTS Delay The combined settings for switches S2-4 and S2-5 determine the amount of delay between the time the Model 1 140RC “sees” R TS and when it sends CTS. 9 10 3.2.1 HOW THE JUMPER WORKS Figure 4 (below) shows the 3-pin jumpers used on the rear card. The strap enables or disables a particular function depending upon whether it straddles pins 1 and 2, or pins 2 and 3. DTE Shield (Pin 1) & FRGND (JB1) In the connected (closed) position, this strap links DB-25 pin 1 and frame ground.
4.3 WIRING UP THE MODEL 1 140RC Both of the rear interface cards compatible with the Model 1 140RC have one RS-232 port and one dual-connector fiber port (see Figure 6. below). Depending upon the card you have, the fiber port will be either an ST or SMA connector .
13 5.0 OPERA TION Once you have configured each Model 1 140RC and connected the cables, you are ready to operate the units. This section describes the LED status monitors and power-up procedure.
15 16 5.3 TEST MODES The Model 1 140RC of fers two V .54 test modes and two V .52 test modes to evaluate the condition of the modems and the communication link. Both sets of tests can be activated physically from the front panel. The V .54 test can also be activated from the RS-232 interface.
