IPD1-A2-GZ40-10 July 2005 5 Installing in a Rack Procedur e 1. Using a Phillips screwdriv er , attach the two provided r ac k mo unt brac kets to the sides of the 1200 0E with eight of the ten pr ovided br acket scr ews .
6 July 2005 IPD1-A2-GZ40-10 2. Mount the chassis onto the r ac k and secure the rac k mount brac kets to the sides of the rack using one of the two provided set s of eight rac k screws (whichev er size fits the rack being utiliz ed).
IPD1-A2-GZ40-10 July 2005 7 Procedur e 1. Select a slot f or installation. The 12000E is a f our teen slot chassis: slots 1–12 are reserved f or interf ace modules and slots U1–U2 are rese r ved f or management modules .
8 July 2005 IPD1-A2-GZ40-10 2. With the manageme nt module printed circu it board (PCB) f acing right and the management mo dule model name upright, align the upper and lo wer edges of the PCB with the slot module guides . 3. Slide the management mo dule firmly into the chassis .

12 July 2005 IPD1-A2-GZ40-10 3. Select a terminal bloc k. Either ter minal bloc k on the back of the 12000E ma y be used to power the chassis; only one te rm inal bloc k is required f o r operat ional purposes. The two terminal b locks on the 12000E are independent f eeds.

Slide the ring terminal of your positiv e power lea d around the sh aft of the scre w and insert the scre w into the same "+" terminal from which it was remov ed.
14 July 2005 IPD1-A2-GZ40-10 7. V er ify the connection. T ur n your po wer source(s) on. The PWR (po wer) LED on the interf ace module and management module f a ceplates will illuminate solid green to indicate the m odules are receiving po wer .

How ev e r , if you wish to run y our subscriber connections at se ttings other than the de f aults, co nfigure the interf ace module(s) prior to connection.
16 July 2005 IPD1-A2-GZ40-10 2. Detach the hook-an d-loop f astener strap fr om the f emale RJ21 connector port: lift the hook -and-loo p fastener tab on the le ft and pull t he strap open towards the r ight, leaving it loop ed under th e r ight side o f the conn ector frame.
