14 VQT1E 14 Before us ing ∫ About the Card/battery door and the T erminal cover If dirt, dust or liquids such as water get inside the Card/battery door or the T erminal cover , it may caus e the unit to malfunction.
15 VQT1 E14 Before using T o use a tripod (VW - CT45E; opt ional), the tripod adapto r on the 2-way h and strap (supplied) must be attached to this unit. (Please carefully read the op erating instructions for how t o attac h the unit to the tripod.) 1 Attach the 2-way hand str ap and the tr ipod adapt or to the unit.
Before us ing 16 VQT1E 14 SD card This unit can be used for recording motion pictures and s till pictures to an SD card. *1 Cannot be guaranteed in operation. The rec ording may suddenly st op during motion picture recording depending on the SD card you use.
Before using 17 VQT1 E14 ≥ A MultiMediaCard cannot be used on this unit. ≥ When the write-protect switch A on SD c ard is locked, no recording, deletion or editing will be possible on the c ard. ∫ About SD cards that you can use for motion picture recording.
Before us ing 18 VQT1E 14 ∫ Handling precautions ≥ Do not touch the terminals on the back of the card. ≥ Do not expose the terminals of the card to water , garbage or dust. ≥ Do not place in the following areas: j In direct sunlight. j In very dusty or humid areas .
19 VQT1 E14 Setup Setup Power supply The unit is in the standby co ndition when the AC adaptor is connected. The primary circuit is always “live” as long as the AC adaptor is connected to an electrical outlet. When this unit is purchased, the battery is not charged.
20 VQT1E 14 Setup 4 Connect t he A C adaptor (supplied) A to thi s unit and the A C outlet. 1 Slide the terminal cover lock to OPEN and then open the terminal cover . 2 Connect the AC cable to the AC adaptor , then the AC outlet. 3 Connect the AC adaptor t o this unit’s DC input terminal.
21 VQT1 E14 Setup charging the battery a gain. If the battery still fails to charge, something may be wrong with the unit, battery , AC adaptor etc. Contact your dealer . Recording 37 VQT1 E14 Recording Before record ing First, format the S D card if one which has been us ed on another device is going to be used for the f irst time on t his unit. ( l 70) W hen the SD c ard is formatted, a ll of the recorded data is deleted.
Recording 38 VQT1E 14 ≥ This unit has lens-protecting glass to prevent drops of water getting in the lens. If there is dirt or drops of water on the lens -protecting glass, w ipe them off before recording. We recomm end using the cleaning cloth. ≥ If there are drops of water on the m icrophone, the recorde d sound will be distor ted.
Recording 39 VQT1 E14 Recording motion pictures ≥ When the unit is purchased, the aspect ratio i s set to [16:9] for recording images compatible with a wide-screen TV . T o watch images on a regular TV (4: 3), change the aspect rati o setting ( l 51) before recording the images or when watching them on the connected TV ( l 72).

46 VQT1E 14 Recording ≥ The larger the digital zoom magnification, the more the image quality is degraded. ≥ This function cannot be used in picture recording mode. The zoom microphone is linked to the zooming operation so that far-away sounds with a tele-shot and close-up sounds with a wide-angle shot are recorded more clearly .

49 VQT1 E14 Recording T o cancel the Colour ni ght view function Select [ ] again. ≥ The Colour night view function makes the signal charging time of CCD up to approximately 25 k longer than usual, so that dark scenes can be recorded brightly . For this reason, bright dots that are usually invisible may be seen, but this is not a malfunction.
