20 Notebook PC User Manual Spring Batter y Lock The spring batter y lock is used to keep the battery pack secured . When the battery pack is inser ted , it will automatically lock. T o remove the battery pack, this spring lock must be held in the unlocked position.

P ower supplied through this jack supplies power to the Not ebook PC and charges the internal battery pack. 30 Notebook PC User Manual Power System Using A C Po wer The Notebook PC pow er is comprised of two par ts, the power adapter and the battery power system. The power adapt er conv er ts AC pow er from a wall outlet to the DC pow er required by the Notebook PC.

A fully charged pack will pro vide several hours of battery life , which can be fur ther extended by using power management f eatures through the BIOS setup .

DO NO T use emergency shutdown while data is being written; doing so can result in loss or destruction of your data.

The following defines the meaning of each multimedia control key on the Notebook PC. Use the [fn] key in combination with the arrow keys f or CD control functions.

Notebook PC User Manual 49 Status Indicat ors Pow er Indicator The power indicator lights when the Not ebook PC is turned ON and blinks slowly when the Notebook PC is in the Suspend-to- RAM (Sleep) mode. T his indicator is OFF when the Notebook PC is turned OFF or in the Suspend-to-Disk (Hibernation) mode.
50 Notebook PC User Manual Driv e Ac tivity Indicator Indicates tha t the Notebook P C is accessing one or more st orage device(s) such as the hard disk. The light flashes proportional to the access time. Bluetooth / W ireless Indicator This is only applicable on models with internal Bluetooth (BT ) and built-in wireless LAN.

Touchpad The touchpad is an int eractive device that interprets the gestures and position of your fingers to simulat e the func tions of a regular mouse.
Notebook PC User Manual 53 Using the t ouchpad The touchpad allows y ou to use one-finger and multi-finger gestures to mov e the pointer so you can select and click items, rotate and zoom images, scroll lists, as well as swipe and switch between windows.

T ouchpad usage illustra tions T apping - T apping on the touchpad allows you to select items onscreen and open files. Clicking - Clicking on the touchpad simulates the functions of the left mouse button and right mouse button.
Notebook PC User Manual 55 Rotating - Rotating images clockwise or counterclockwise is done on the touchpad by using two fingers . T o rotate an image , place two fingers on the t ouchpad then turn one finger clockwise or counterclockwise while the other stays still.
56 Notebook PC User Manual The touchpad responds to mo vement not to f orce. There is no need to tap the surface too hard. T apping too hard does not increase the responsiveness of the t ouchpad. The touchpad responds best to light pressur e. Caring f or the touchpad The touchpad is pressur e sensitive.
Notebook PC User Manual 57 Disabling the touchpad automatically Y ou can automatically disable the t ouchpad when an external USB mouse is attached . T o disable the touchpad: 1. Go to C ontrol P anel . Change view settings to Large Ic ons then select Mouse.

The hub should be higher than the disc when correctly mounted . Place the disc completely inside the c enter hub to protect the disc from scratches .

Slowly push the driv e’ s tray back in. The drive will begin reading the table of contents ( T OC) on the disc.
