ASUS P9X79 LE 3-1 Chapter 3 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 3.1 Knowing BIOS The new ASUS UEFI BIOS is an Unied Extensible Firmware Interface that complies with UEFI architecture, offering a user-friendly interface that goes beyond traditional keyboard- only BIOS controls to enable more exible and convenient mouse input.
3-2 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 3.2.1 EZ Mode By default, the EZ Mode screen appears when you enter the BIOS setup program. The EZ Mode provides you an overview of the basic system information, and allows you to select the display language, system performance mode and boot device priority .
ASUS P9X79 LE 3-3 Chapter 3 3.2.2 Advanced Mode The Advanced Mode provides advanced options for experienced end-users to congure the BIOS settings. The gure below shows an example of the Advanced Mode. Refer to the following sections for the detailed congurations.
3-4 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 Menu items The highlighted item on the menu bar displays the specic items for that menu. For example, selecting Main shows the Main menu items. The other items (Ai T weaker, Advanced, Monitor , Boot, T ool, and Exit) on the menu bar have their respective menu items.
ASUS P9X79 LE 3-5 Chapter 3 3.3 Main menu The Main menu screen appears when you enter the Advanced Mode of the BIOS Setup program. The Main menu provides you an overview of the basic system information, and allows you to set the system date, time, language, and security settings.
3-6 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 3.3.4 Security The Security menu items allow you to change the system security settings. • If you have forgotten your BIOS password, erase the CMOS Real T ime Clock (RTC) RAM to clear the BIOS password. See section 2.
ASUS P9X79 LE 3-7 Chapter 3 User Password If you have set a user password, you must enter the user password for accessing the system. The User Password item on top of the screen shows the default Not Installed . After you set a password, this item shows Installed .
