1-17 Chapter 1: Product introduction 1.6 Onboard switches Onboard switches allow you to ne-tune performance when working on a bare or open-case system. This is ideal for overclockers and gamers who continually change settings to enhance system performance.
ASUS P8Z77-M 1-18 USB BIOS Flashback allows you to easily update the BIOS without entering the BIOS or operating system. Just connect the USB storage device containing the BIOS le to the USB port, press the BIOS Flashback switch, and the BIOS is updated automatically .
1-19 Chapter 1: Product introduction 1. Standby power LED (SB_PWR) The motherboard comes with a standby power LED that lights up to indicate that the system is ON, in sleep mode, or in soft-off mode. This is a reminder that you should shut down the system and unplug the power cable before removing or plugging in any motherboard component.

Intel ® Z77 USB 3.0 connectors (20-1 pin USB3_12) This connector is for the additional USB 3.0 ports, and complies with the USB 3.0 specicaton that supports up to 480 MBps connection speed. Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-7 Boot Menu(F8) • The boot device options vary depending on the devices you installed to the system. • The Boot Menu(F8) button is available only when the boot device is installed to the system.
2-8 ASUS P8Z77-M 2.2.2 Advanced Mode The Advanced Mode provides advanced options for experienced end-users to congure the BIOS settings. The gure below shows an example of the Advanced Mode . Refer to the following sections for the detailed congurations.
Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-9 Menu items The highlighted item on the menu bar displays the specic items for that menu. For example, selecting Main shows the Main menu items. The other items (Ai T weaker , Advanced, Monitor , Boot, T ool, and Exit) on the menu bar have their respective menu items.
2-10 ASUS P8Z77-M 2.3 Main menu The Main menu screen appears when you enter the Advanced Mode of the BIOS Setup program. The Main menu provides you an overview of the basic system information, and allows you to set the system date, time, language, and security settings.
Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-1 1 Administrator Password If you have set an administrator password, we recommend that you enter the administrator password for accessing the system. Otherwise, you might be able to see or change only selected elds in the BIOS setup program.
2-12 ASUS P8Z77-M 2.4 Ai T weaker menu The Ai T weaker menu items allow you to congure overclocking-related items. Be cautious when changing the settings of the Ai T weaker menu items.

T arget DRAM Speed : xxxxMHz Displays the current DRAM speed. 2.4.1 Ai Overclock T uner [Auto] Allows you to select the CPU overclocking options to achieve the desired CPU internal frequency .
2-14 ASUS P8Z77-M iGPU Max. Frequency [Auto] Allows you to congure the iGPU frequency . Use the <+> and <-> keys to adjust the value. The values range from 1350MHz to 3000MHz with a 50MHz interval. EPU Power Saving Mode [Disabled] Allows you to enable or disable the EPU power saving function.
Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-15 2.4.4 CPU Power Management The sub-items in this menu allow you to set the CPU ratio and features. CPU Ratio [Auto] Allows you to manually adjust the maximum non-turbo CPU ratio. Use <+> and <-> keys or the numeric keypad to adjust the ratio.
2-16 ASUS P8Z77-M CPU V oltage Frequency [Auto] Frequency switching affects the VRM transient response, and the thermal component. Higher frequency gets quicker transient response. Conguration options: [Auto] [Manual] DO NOT remove the thermal module when switching to Manual Mode.
Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-17 Offset Mode Sign [+] This item appears only when you set the CPU V oltage item to [Offset Mode]. [+] T o offset the voltage by a positive value.
2-18 ASUS P8Z77-M Be cautious when changing the settings of the Advanced menu items. Incorrect eld values can cause the system to malfunction. 2.5 Advanced menu The Advanced menu items allow you to change the settings for the CPU and other system devices.
