Loading Documents on the ADF 17 4 Adjust the documen t guides slightly larger than the actual size of the documents. 5 When using long paper , pull out the hopper e xtension tra y from the hopper . Then raise and adjust the e xit stopper to the position a little longer than the actual length of the document.
Loading Documents on the ADF 18 6 Place the documents on the hopper with the side to be scanned f acing up. Then push them in t he direction of the arrow until the y stop . ≥ The amount of documents should not exceed t he limit mark on the documen t guide.

Loading Documents on the ADF 22 7 Remov e the document and lock the document guide. Slide the document guides selector in the direction shown in the illustration until the ( 1 ) and ( 2 ) marks are aligned to lock the document guide .

24 Loading Documents on the Flatbed One sheet or an entir e book document can be scanned on the docu ment glass. Scanning documents in this way is k nown as “scanning with th e flatbed”. Caution ≥ Do not place printed materials containing magnetic in k char acters or magnetic strip cards on th e flatbed.

26 Using Control Sheets By using control sheets , you can change the scanning conditions in the middle o f scanning. Placing a cont rol sheet in the middle of a document let s yo u change the scanning conditions f or all pages scanned after the control shee t.
Using Contr ol Sheets 27 ∫ About Printing Control Sheets ≥ Print the control sheet at the sp ecified size; do not enlarge or redu ce the size. ≥ When printing the con trol sheet, make sure t hat the pattern is 25 mm (1 in.) from the top of the page and cen tered horizontally .
28 Changing the Reference Plate Setting Y ou can choose a backg round color to be scanned f rom white (blac k) to bl ack (white). The scann er comes from factory se t to black. The reference plate (B), reference plate (F) and flatbed sh eet setting must be change d simultaneo usly .

30 Clearing Paper Jams T or n documents, thin documents or documents that are cre ased on the top edge ma y cause paper jams. If a paper jam occurs, remove the jammed s heet accordin g to the f o llowing procedure. ∫ Remo ving paper jams from t h e paper slot 1 Push the ADF door release to open the ADF door .

32 Cleaning the Unit ∫ Outside of the scanner ≥ Do not use thinne r , benzine, or c l eaner s containin g abrasives or surfactants , for c leaning the outside of scanner . ≥ Clean the u nit at least once a month. 1 T ur n the power off . 2 Clean the cov er with a soft cloth.

41 Replacing Consumable Roller Modules ∫ Replacing paper feed r oller modules Recommended chan ge: 300,000 scans 1 T ur n the power off . 2 Push the ADF door release to open the ADF door . 3 Pull down the paper f eed roller module in the direction of the arrow .
Replacing Consumable Roller Modules 42 6 Install the new paper f eed roller module. 7 Push the new paper f eed roller module upwards in the direction of the arro w , so that it is lock ed by the magnets on both sides. 8 Close the ADF door . ≥ When y ou close the ADF door , close it securely until it is locked.

Replacing Consumable Roller Modules 44 6 Install the ne w double f eed prev ention roller b y matching the groo ve of its shaft with the groo ve of the metal holder . 7 Close the doub le f eed pre vention con ve yor . 8 Close the ADF door . ≥ When y ou close the ADF door , close it sec urely until it is loc ked.
45 Troubleshooting If a problem occurs while the unit is being used, check t he f ollowing items and chec k the scanner status with the User Utility . If the unit still malfunctio ns, tur n it OFF , unplug the power cord and call for service.

47 Shading Adjustment ¥ What is the purpose of the shading adjustment? The shading adjustmen t function corrects v ariations in the lamp intensit y and pix el sensor sensitivity , and reduces une venness in density in scanned images.
48 Repacking Instructions It is highly reco mmended that you kee p the original carton and ALL packing mat erials. If you need to transport or ship your scan ner, please f ollow these inst ructions: ≥ Use the original car ton and all of the original pac king materials.
