17 Loading Documents 1 Documents that hav e been stapled together or stack ed together (as in a file f older) will need to be separated. 1 F an the stack of documents to sepa- rate all the edges . 2 Hold both ends and bend the docu- ments as shown in the illustr ation.

Loading Documents 19 6 Adjust the document guides to the size of the documents. 7 Set documents under the paper f eed roller . 1 Lift the paper f eed roller as shown in the figure. 2 Push documents in the direction of the arrow until the y stop under the paper f eed roller .
20 Clearing Paper Jams T or n documents, th in documents or document s that are creased on the to p edge ma y cause paper jams. If a pape r jam occurs, remove the jammed s heet accordin g to the following procedure. ∫ Remo ving paper jams fr om the feed part 1 Push the ADF door release to open the ADF door .
Clearing P a per Jams 21 3 Make sure that the sensor rollers are installed properly , bef ore closing the ADF door . ≥ If the sensor rollers are remo ved, re- attach them. (Refer to page 32 .) 4 Close the ADF door . ≥ When y ou c lose the ADF door , close it securely until the door is locked.
22 Cleaning the Unit ∫ Outside of the scanner Clean the unit at least on ce a month. 1 T ur n the power off . 2 Clean the cov er with a soft cloth. 3 Remov e dir t and dust from the radia- tion v ent with a brush. ∫ Inside the scanner ≥ Clean the unit at least on ce a week or when 20, 000 sheets ha ve been scanned, wh iche v er comes fir s t.

Cleaning the Unit 24 3 Use the roller cleaning paper (KV-SS03) to remov e the dir t from the surf aces of the retard roller , paper feed roller , separation roller , 6 drive rollers , and 6 free rollers.

Cleaning the Unit 26 3 Clean the CIS glasses and sensor roll- ers using the roller cleaning paper . ≥ If the sensor r ollers are remo ved while cl eaning, re-att ach them af ter cl eaning. 4 Close the ADF door . ≥ When y ou c lose the ADF door , close it securely until the door is locked.
27 Replacing Consumables ∫ Replacing the paper feed r oller module 1 T ur n the power off . 2 Push the ADF door release to open the ADF door . 3 Push the two green le vers do wn at both ends of the paper f eed roller mod- ule to unlock the paper f eed rollers.
Replacing Consumab les 28 4 Remov e the paper f eed roller module straightly , holdi ng up the paper f eed case along the groo ve of the f eed co v er to pull out the claw out of the case. 5 Install the new paper f eed roller mod- ule with its gear on the right.
Replacing Consumables 29 6 Push up the green le v ers at both ends in the direction of the arrows until the y click into place . ≥ After installing the paper feed r oller module, confirm that the feed r ollers can be mo ved lightly in vertical direction.

Replacing Consumables 31 5 Install the new reta rd roller module b y matching the groo v e of its shaft with the groo v e of the metal holder . Make sure that both ends of the shaft reach the springs of the holder . 6 Close the retard roller cov er . 7 Close the ADF door .
32 How to re-attach the sensor rollers If the sensor rolle rs are remo v ed, re-attach t hem. ∫ Re-attach the sensor r oller for ba c k scanning to the ADF door Attach the shor ter sensor roller to the ADF door by placing the non-gear side to the ADF door release.
