1-17 Chapter 1: Product introduction 1.4.3 Installing a DIMM Unplug the power supply before adding or removing DIMMs or other system components. Failure to do so can cause severe damage to both the motherboard and the components. 1. Press the retaining clips outward to unlock a DIMM socket.

1-19 Chapter 1: Product introduction 1.6 Jumpers Clear RTC RAM (3-pin CLRTC) This jumper allows you to clear the Real T ime Clock (RTC) RAM in CMOS. Y ou can clear the CMOS memory of date, time, and system setup parameters by erasing the CMOS RTC RAM data.

A TPM system also helps enhance network security , protects digital identities, and ensures platform integrity .

2-2 ASUS P8H61-M LX2 R2.0 2.1.2 ASUS EZ Flash 2 The ASUS EZ Flash 2 feature allows you to update the BIOS without using an OS-based utility . Before you start using this utility , download the latest BIOS le from the ASUS website at www .asus.com. T o update the BIOS using EZ Flash 2: 1.

At the FreeDOS prompt, type d: and press <Enter> to switch the disk from Drive C (optical drive) to Drive D (USB ash drive).

Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-7 Using the power button , reset button , or the <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Del> keys to force reset from a running operating system can cause damage to your data or system. We recommend you always shut down the system properly from the operating system.
2-8 ASUS P8H61-M LX2 R2.0 BIOS menu screen The BIOS setup program can be used under two modes: EZ Mode and Advanced Mode . Y ou can change modes from the Exit menu or from the Exit/Advanced Mode button in the EZ Mode/Advanced Mode screen. EZ Mode By default, the EZ Mode screen appears when you enter the BIOS setup program.
Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-9 Advanced Mode The Advanced Mode provides advanced options for experienced end-users to congure the BIOS settings. The gure below shows an example of the Advanced Mode . Refer to the following sections for the detailed congurations.
2-10 ASUS P8H61-M LX2 R2.0 Menu items The highlighted item on the menu bar displays the specic items for that menu. For example, selecting Main shows the Main menu items. The other items (Ai T weaker, Advanced, Monitor , Boot, T ool, and Exit) on the menu bar have their respective menu items.
Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-1 1 2.3 Main menu The Main menu screen appears when you enter the Advanced Mode of the BIOS Setup program. The Main menu provides you with an overview of basic system information, and allows you to set the system date, time, language, and security settings.
2-12 ASUS P8H61-M LX2 R2.0 Administrator Password If you have set an administrator password, we recommend that you enter the administrator password for accessing the system. Otherwise, you might be able to see or change only selected elds in the BIOS setup program.
Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-13 User Password If you have set a user password, you must enter the user password for accessing the system. The User Password item on top of the screen shows the default Not Installed . After you set a password, this item shows Installed .
2-14 ASUS P8H61-M LX2 R2.0 2.4 Ai T weaker menu The Ai T weaker menu items allow you to congure overclocking-related items. Be cautious when changing the settings of the Ai T weaker menu items. Incorrect eld values can cause the system to malfunction.
Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-15 2.4.3 OC T uner OC T uner automatically overclocks the frequency and voltage of CPU and DRAM for enhancing the system performance. Press <Enter> and select OK to start automatic overclocking. Conguration options: [OK] [Cancel] 2.
2-16 ASUS P8H61-M LX2 R2.0 Secondary Plane Current Limit [Auto] Use <+>/<-> to adjust the value. Be cautious when changing the settings of the Advanced menu items. Incorrect eld values can cause the system to malfunction. 2.5 Advanced menu The Advanced menu items allow you to change the settings for the CPU and other system devices.
Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-17 Intel Adaptive Thermal Monitor [Enabled] [Enabled] Enables the overheated CPU to throttle its clock speed to cool down. [Disabled] Disables the CPU thermal monitor function. Active Processor Cores [All] Allows you to choose the number of CPU cores to activate in each processor package.
2-18 ASUS P8H61-M LX2 R2.0 CPU Power Management Conguration CPU Ratio [Auto] Allows you to set the ratio between the CPU Core Clock and the BCLK Frequency . Use <+> and <-> keys to adjust the ratio. The valid value ranges vary according to your CPU model.
Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-19 The following three items appear only when you set the Intel(R) Rapid Start T echnology to [Enabled]. Entry on S3 RTC W ake [Enabled] Allows you to enable or disable the iFFS invocation upon S3 RTC wake.

Conguration options: [Enabled] [Disabled] Entry After [10 Minutes] This item appears only when you set the Entry on S3 RTC W ake to [Enabled] and allows you to set the RTC wake timer at S3 entry .
Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-21 2.5.4 System Agent Conguration Memory Remap Feature [Enabled] [Enabled] Allow you to enable remapping the memory above 4GB. [Disabled] Disables this function. Graphics Conguration Primary Display [Auto] Allows you to decide which graphics controller to use as the primary boot device.
2-22 ASUS P8H61-M LX2 R2.0 Legacy USB Support [Enabled] [Enabled] Enables the support for USB devices on legacy operating systems (OS). [Disabled] The USB devices can be used only for the BIOS setup program. [Auto] Allows the system to detect the presence of USB devices at startup.

[Power Off] The system goes into of f state after an AC power loss. [Last State] The system goes into either off or on state, whatever the system state was before the AC power loss.

Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-25 2.6.3 CPU V oltage, 3.3V V oltage, 5V V oltage, 12V V oltage The onboard hardware monitor automatically detects the voltage output through the onboard voltage regulators. Select Ignore if you do not want to detect this item.
2-26 ASUS P8H61-M LX2 R2.0 Chassis Fan Speed Low Limit [600 RPM] This item appears only when you enable the Chassis Q-Fan Control feature and allows you to disable or set the chassis fan warning speed.
Chapter 2: BIOS information 2-27 2.7 Boot menu The Boot menu items allow you to change the system boot options. 2.7.1 Bootup NumLock State [On] [On] Sets the power-on state of the NumLock to [On]. [Off] Sets the power-on state of the NumLock to [Off].
