3 5. Insert the 20mm eyepiece into the diagonal (remov e the caps from the ey epiece). Secure the eyepiece with the thumbscrew on the diagonal. 6. Connect the EZ Finder II refle x sight to its bracket on the telescope tube. Loosen the two knur led silver thumbscrews on the reflex sight, and slide its base onto the rail on top of the brack et.
4 Focusing the T elescope With the 20mm e yepiece inserted into the diagonal, mo ve the telescope so the front end is pointing in the general direc - tion of an object at least 1/4-mile a wa y . Now with your fingers , slowly rotate the focus knob until the object comes into shar p f ocus.
5 F or e xample, the GoScope has a focal length of 350mm, which when used with the supplied 20mm ey epiece yields: 350mm = 17.5x 20mm The magnification provided b y the 10mm eyepiece is: 350mm = 35x 10mm The maximum attainable magnification for a telescope is directly related to how much light it can gather .
6 T o see what y ou’ re doing in the darkness, use a red-filtered flashlight rather than a white light. Red light does not spoil your e yes’ dar k adaptation like white light does. A flashlight with a red LED light is ideal, or you can co ver the front of a regular incandescent flashlight with red cellophane or paper .
7 Car e and Maintenance If you give your telescope reasonable care, it will last a life - time. Store it in a clean, dr y , dust-free place, saf e from rapid changes in temperature and humidity . Do not store the tele - scope outdoors , although storage in a garage or shed is OK.
