Chapter 3: First Time Setup Overview Once the hardware is installed, physica ll y co nnecte d to you r net wor k, and pow ered on, yo u can configure the Th ecus IP storag e so t hat i t is acce ssibl e to yo ur netw ork users . The re ar e tw o ways to s et up your Thecu s IP storage : using the Thecus Setup Wiz ard or the LCD di splay .

8. Fi nish ed! Access t he Th ecus IP storag e Web Ad mi nistra tor Int erfac e b y pressing the Start Bro ws er button. Y ou can also configur e ano ther Th ecus IP s to rag e at thi s point by clicking the Setup Other Dev ice button. Press Exit to exit the wizard.

There are four butto ns on the fro nt pa nel to c ontro l the OLE D functions.

Menu Bar The Menu Ba r is where y ou will find a ll of the i nfor mation scre ens and sy stem settings of Th ecus IP st orag e . Please choose the number of logs export and click “ Apply” to activate these settings.
Other than the def ined items sent upo n registration, there are also two additional items: “HDD Inf o” and “Time Zone”. These two optional items can a lso be sent to Thec us anonymous ly for analys is and sta t i stics purpo ses. To send these items, simply chec k the desired checkboxes to help Thecus improve its pr oducts and servi ces.

From the menu, choose the Sc hedule Power On/Off i tem an d the Sche dul e Power O n/Off scre en ap pears.

We strongl y recomm ended copyin g the RAI D volume encryption key to a saf e pla ce . You ca n find the enc ryp tion key fi le f rom th e USB disk in th e follow in g format : (RAID volume created date)_xxxxxx.key RAID volume s with encrypt io n ena ble d wil l be displayed wi th a key l ock symbol next to v olu me ID name.

RAID Level You can set the sto rage v olu me as JBO D , RAI D 0 , RAID 1 , RAID 5 , RA ID 6 , RAID 10, RA ID 50 or RAID 60 (dep end ing on model) . Level Model JBOD RAID 0 RAID 1 RAID 5 RAID 6 RAI D 1.
Level Description JBOD The s torage v olume is a s ingle HD D with no RA ID support. JBOD requires a m inimum of 1 disk. RAID 0 Provides data striping bu t no redun dancy. Improves performan ce but not d ata saf ety. RAID 0 requ ires a min imum of 2 disk s.
Remove RAI D Cli ck to r emov e the R AID volu me. Al l user dat a and i SCSI created in the sel ected RAID volume w ill be del eted . To rem ove a RAI D vo lume, fo llow t he st eps below : 1. On the RAID List scree n , select the RAID volume by clicking on its radio button, and click RAID Info rmat ion to open th e RAID Co nfigu rat ion screen.
