2 2 Installing your Oricom AM880 2.1 Installing the optional backup battery (not inc luded) Before connecting y our AM880 to the telephone network, the battery should be fitted. Always use a ne w 9V alkaline block-type battery . The batter y is required for pre venting loss data if there should be a mains power f ailure.
3 3 Setting up your AM880 Before y ou star t using the AM880, y ou need to adjust basic settings such as the date and time. When the adaptor has been connected, the display will sho w LCD CONTRAST . If LCD CONTRAST doesn’t appear, please adjust the contrast.
4 3.1 T urning the AM880 ON and OFF T o tur n on the AM880, press ON/OFF/ST OP button. The PLA Y LED illuminates and the AM880 is ready to answ er calls. T o tur n it off, press ON/OFF/ST OP button. The pla y LED turns off. 3.2 Recording outgoing messages (OGM) The AM880 has two prerecorded outgoing messages: 1.
5 3.3 Setting the number of rings T o control the duration bef ore the AM880 answ ers a call, slide the switch on the AM880’ s rear side to the desired number of rings ( 2 , 6 , or TS ). TS (T oll Sav er) – If you choose the T oll Sav er option, and there are new messages, the AM880 ans wers after two rings.
6 4.3 Recording a personal memo A memo is a personal message that you record b y directly on the AM880, without calling in. 1 . Press and hold MEMO/2 W A Y button and the AM880 beeps. The LCD shows ‘ MEMO RECORDING ’ and the counter star ts counting up .
7 NZ/A US 4.6 Deleting messages Y ou can delete messages individually during pla yback, or all at once after playbac k. T o delete an incoming message, memo, or tw o-way phone con versation (after listening to it), press DELETE button during playback.
8 5.2 Receiving calls During an incoming call, NEW appears and the New Call LED blinks while the phone is ringing. The number of new and total calls appear . The New Call LED blinks until all the ne w calls have been re viewed. • If only the caller’ s phone number is receiv ed, the caller’ s phone number with the call time and date appear .
9 5.5 Backlit displa y When you receiv e a call or press any k ey , the LCD will light up . It will tur n off after 10 seconds when no ke y is pressed. 5.6 Call back from the caller ID memory 1. Press REVIEW or button to find the Caller ID memory location to be redialed.
10 4. After all your messages hav e been pla yed, y ou hear two short beeps. Y ou hav e 10 seconds to access the menu again, otherwise, the AM880 disconnects automatically . Press: T o: 7# Remote T urn on/off the AM880 If you f orget to turn your AM880 on, you can phone in from a remote location to tur n it on.
11 6.1 T o Retrieve Messages when Recording Memory is Full 1. When the message capacity is full, the AM880 will answer y our call after 10 rings and announces “MEMOR Y IS FULL ”. 2. Enter your 3-digit security code within 10 seconds. 3. Follo w the remote message playbac k procedure.
12 This AM880 will only work in conjunction with a tone signalling (DTMF) telephone, but some telephones ma y not be compatible. Since noise or speech from the telephone can upset dialling from this AM880, errors may result if the de vices are used together in other than quiet conditions.
13 2LMB98YY If the fault is still present, connect another telephone (if av ailable) to the telephone sock et. The results will sho w you whether the f ault lies with this product or with the telephone line. If this product is working correctly the fault is on the telephone line .
