6 Preparing Y our Receiver Connecting Speakers Preparing the Speaker Wires Speaker wire consis ts of two conductors (individual wires) encased in insulation and is usually color -coded or marked with a ridge along one side so you can identify each cond uctor .
7 Preparing Y our Receiver Connecting the Front Speakers Follow these steps to connect the right speaker to the r eceiver’s right FRONT SPEAKERS ter minals. 1. P r e ss open the receiver’s FRONT SP EAKERS R (+) red lever and insert the ridged or color -coded cond u ctor’s end into the small hole.

AM Antennas Assemble the supplied AM an tenna ’s base by swinging the base in the direction of th e ar row and inser tin g t h e a n te nna’s bottom tab s in to th e base’s slot.
13 Preparing Y our Receiver For the best radio reception, use an outdoo r antenna . Follow these steps to connect an outdo or FM antenna to the receiver using 75 Ω coax- ial cable. Note: If your antenna has 300 Ω twin-lead cab le, consult your local RadioShack store for the correct adapter .
14 Preparing Y our Receiver Using One Remote Control for More than One Unit If you also have an Optimus pr ofes sional series CD player , VCR, or cas- sette deck with the OSR ma rk ( ), you can connect its CONTROL IN jack to the re ceiver so you ca n control all of your equipment with a single remote co ntrol.
15 Preparing Y our Receiver Using the AC Power Outlet Y o ur receiver has an AC power outlet that you can use to power an elec- tronic device, such as a tur ntable, cass ette deck, or VCR. This switched outlet turns on and off with the receiver and provides a maximum of 100 watts.

18 Basic Operation Memory T uning Memory tuning lets you store up to 30 AM or FM fr equencies in thr ee dif ferent classes (10 fre quencies in each class), then quickly tune to a class and station. Follow these steps to store a station in a memory location using the front panel controls.

20 Cassette Deck/VCR Features Y o u can connect two ca ssette decks to the receiver . Selecting either VCR/ T APE 1 or T APE 2 MONITOR lets you hear the playback from the cassette deck you connect ed to the receive r’ s corresponding ( VCR/T APE 1 or T APE 2 MONITOR ) jacks.
21 Cassette Deck/VCR Features Playing and Recording Video T apes Y o u can connect two video sources to the receiver . If you connect a VCR to the VCR/T APE 1 and DVD/TV or LD/SA T audio and video jacks, you can copy video cassette ta pes fro m one VCR to anot her and monitor the dubbing process.
22 Using Advanced Sound Options Y our receiver has four special sound o ptions: Dolby Pro Logic Surr ound, Dolby 3CH Logic, DSP Ef fect, and Dolby Virtual.
23 Using Advanced Sound Options 5-D Theater 5-D Theater provides cleare r and more dynamic sound ef fects by out- putting audio signals through the rear channel to simulate the stereo sound, compar ed with a standard surr ound system which pr ovides only monaural signals to the rear speak ers.
