4 CONNECTIONS CONNECTING POWER You can power your s ys tem us ing ei- ther AC power or s ix D batt eries (not supplied). Using AC Power The suppl ied power cord stored insi de the ba tte ry com part m en t lets you p ower the syste m f r om a sta ndar d AC outlet .
5 2. Remove the power cord from its storage are a in the battery com- partment. 3. Install the ba tteries as indi c ated by the polarity symbols (+ and – ) marked in side the compartment. 4. Replace the battery compartment cover . If t he system’s sound becomes weak or distorted, repl ace the batte ries.
6 OPE RA TION PLA Y ING THE RADIO 1. Set T APE (POWER OFF )/RADIO to RADIO . 2. Set AM/ F M/-STEREO to t he de - sired band and rotate T UNI NG to tune to the desi r ed st at ion. 3. Adjust VOLUM E to a com f ortable listening level . 4. Set E-BASS to ON to enhan c e the bass ef fect or to OFF fo r no rm al bass ef fect.

8 Co nsecut ive Play You can set the syst em to play one side of a tape i n Deck 1, then aut o- matically pl ay one side of a t ape in Deck 2. 1. Load the cass et te tape you want to hear first in Deck 1, then load the other cassette tape in Deck 2. 2.
9 Re cord ing from the Radi o 1. Load a blank tap e, or one you want to r eco rd over , into Deck 2. 2. Set T APE ( POW ER OFF ) / RADIO to RADIO . 3. Set AM/ F M/-STEREO to t he de - sired band and rot ate TUNI NG to tune to the desi r ed st at ion.
10 Note: Press P AUSE on Deck 2 to temporarily stop recording. Press P AUSE aga in to resume recording. 6. When y ou are finishe d, press STOP/ EJECT on Deck 2 to stop the tap e. RECORD and PLA Y release. Note: T he deck automatically sto ps when the tape reaches the end.
11 7. T o stop c opying bef ore the tape ends, press STOP/EJECT on Deck 2. RECORD and PLA Y on Deck 2 release. Pres s STOP/EJECT on Deck 1 to stop that tape .
12 T APE TIP S ERASING A CASSETTE TA P E To record o ver a cassette tape, simply record as usual. Th e sy stem records over the previous recording. You can quickly eras e both sides of a cassette tape using a bulk ta pe eras- er, such as Cat. No. 44-232.
