6 PREPARATION BEFORE Y OU BEGIN To protec t the play back he ad during shipmen t, a protec tive foam pi ece is atta ched to it . Remov e the foam p iece befo re you us e the SCP-105’ s cassette player.
7 Cautions: • Use onl y fresh b atteries of th e required siz e and re com- mended type . • Do no t mix old and new batteries, diff erent types o f bat- teries (stan dard, alkali ne, or rechar geab le), or recharg e- ab le batt eries of diff erent capaci ties.
8 The SCP-10 5’s battery indic ator shows the amount of batte ry power re maining. The indica tor consis ts of three se ction s — the more section s that app ear, the hi gher the ba ttery power. When appears or t he SCP-105 stops o perating proper- ly, repl ace or rec harge the b atteries.
9 Important: Your SCP-105 c an use nickel- cadmium rechargea ble batteri es. At the en d of a nick el-cadm ium batter y's use ful life, it must be rec ycled or di sposed o f properly.
10 Follow these steps to conn ect the SC P-105 to AC po wer. 1. Set the ad apter’ s v oltage s witch to 3V . 2. Insert the Adaptaplu g into the ad apter’ s cord so it r eads + TIP . 3. Insert the plug into the SCP-105’ s DC 3V jack. 4. Plug the adapter into a st andard A C outlet.
11 • Always connect t he DC ada pter to the SCP-105 b efore you co nnect it to the powe r sourc e. When y ou finish , dis- connec t the adapter fro m the power sou rce before yo u disconnec t it from the SCP-105. Follow these steps t o power the SCP-10 5 from y our veh icle’s battery.
12 Note: You canno t set the time whil e listening to a tap e or play- ing the radio. Follow th ese steps to set th e clock. 1. Repea tedly press RADIO ON/OFF B AND (if ne cessary) to displ ay the clock. 2. Hold do wn th e de sir ed cloc k’ s bu tton (suc h a s 1 for C l o ck 1) f or about 2 secon ds.
13 4. When you se t Cloc k 1 or 5, repeat edly press HOUR until the des ired ho ur and AM or PM appe ar . Then, repeat edly press MINUTE until the des ired min ute and AM or PM appear . (Hold do wn HO UR or MINUTE to r apidly ad v ance the time digits).
14 CONNECTING HEADPHONE S OR SPEAKERS To conn ect your h eadphone s or am plified speaker s ystem (not suppl ied) to the SCP-1 05, insert the head phones’ or am - plif ied speak er system’s 1 / 8 -i nch (3.5-mm ) mini-plug in to the SCP-105’s jack.

16 To remove the belt clip , press PUSH RELE ASE , slide the be lt clip do wnward, then lift it off. SETTING THE FREQUENCY RANG ES AND STEPS The S C P-105 is preset to tu ne frequen cies in increm ents of 10 kHz (AM) and 0.2 MHz (FM ), which ar e standard increment s in the Un ited Sta tes.

19 USING THE RADIO 1. Repea tedly press RADIO ON/OFF B AND until th e desire d band ap pears ( AM , FM1 , or FM2 ). Note: FM1 and FM2 store st ations in the same fre- quency range , but in di ff erent (sep arat e) memory loca- tions . 2. T o select stere o rece ption, repe atedly p ress FM ST/ MONO.
20 3. Use TUNING or to tune to t he desired statio n using m anual o r memo r y tuning (see “Man ual T uning” on P age 21 or “Memory T uning” on P age 22). 4. Adjust VO L U M E to the de sir ed lis ten ing lev el. 5. T o emphasiz e the bas s soun ds , repeate dly press E-B AS S (GAME) until a bar a ppears abo v e E-BASS – ON .
21 MANUAL T UNING To manu ally tun e the SCP-1 05, repea tedly pres s TUNING or to tune up or down the band. For quick er tuning, hold down either TUNING or unti l the freque ncy on the disp lay changes rapidly, then rel ease the button. The SC P-10 5 c on tin ues to s earch for a f requ enc y at a slowe r speed.
22 MEMORY T UNING You can manually store up to 10 AM a nd 20 FM s tations i n memory (10 each in FM1 an d FM2). Storing Stations Ma n uall y 1. Repea tedly press RADIO ON/OFF B AND until th e desire d band ap pears ( AM , FM1 , or FM2 ). 2. Press TUNING or to tune to the station you want to store .
23 Selecting Stor ed Stati ons 1. Repea tedly press RADIO ON/OFF B AND to select th e desired band. 2. P ress a p res et numbe r button ( 1 – 5 ) to s ele ct a stored station , or pres s +5 then a pr eset number butto n (to select preset n umber s 6–10).
24 USIN G THE T APE PL A Y ER PLAYING A T APE 1. If the r adio is on, turn it off by repeatedly pressing RADIO ON/OFF B AND until the cloc k appears. 2. Insert a prerecorded casse tte into the guid es with the e xposed tape edge facin g out an d th e full reel to the left.
25 5. Adjust VO L U M E t o a comf or table l istening le v el. 6. T o stop the tape , press ST OP . USING F AST-FORWARD AND REWIND When the tape is stopp ed, press FF or REW to rewind or fast-forward it. To stop the tape before it reaches the end, press ST OP .
26 T APE TIPS Tape qual ity greatly affects the quality of the rec ording. We recomm end exten ded-range or l ow noise Type 1 regul ar length (60- or 90- minute ) normal-bias cassette tapes. W e do not recom mend lo ng-play c assette ta pes such as C-120 s be- cause they are th in and ca n eas ily tangle.
27 PLAY ING THE GAM ES Your SCP-1 05 has a slo t machin e gam e and a numb er gam e. You can play eithe r game in t he standb y, tun er, or tape m ode. Notes: • Y ou can s witch from one ga me to anoth er an ytime during the ga me by pres sing E- BASS/GAME once.
28 Press +5 once to start the ga me. The numbe rs on the displa y change . Repea tedly pr ess +5 to sto p the numbe rs. The numb ers stop one by one (from l eft to right ). If yo u do not press +5 to s top the numbe rs, each digit aut omat- ically stops a fter a few se conds.
29 PLAYING THE NUMBER GAME The obje ctive of the numbe r game is to clear th e number show n on t he dis play b y pr essi ng t he sa me n umber , us ing the number butt ons ( 1 – 5 ). To sel ect the numbe r game, hold do wn E-BASS/GA ME for about 3 se conds until 000 and 1 a ppear.
30 After o ne minut e, the gam e ends a utomatic ally, al l the bar i n- dicators flash, and your sco re appears . Scoring You get 1 p oint w hen you match a numb er. The maximu m score is 50 poi nts. EXITING GAME MODE The SCP-1 05 automat ically ex its the ga me mode if you sto p playin g for about 5 minutes .
