5 Using A C P ow er To power the CTR-108 from standard AC power, plug the s upplied power cord in to the AC I N jack on th e side of the CTR -108. The n pl ug th e oth er end into a sta ndard AC outlet.
6 USING AN EARPHONE For privat e listening , inser t the sup - plied ea rphone’s 1 / 8 -i nch p lug i nto the EAR jack. 7 OPERA TION LO ADING A CASSETTE TA P E 1. T ake up any slack in the tape by tur ning one of the cass ette’ s hub s with a penc il. Caution : If you do not rem ov e the e xcess slack, the tap e cou ld become ta ngled in th e record/ playbac k mecha nism.
8 RECORDING Notes: • Before y ou load a cassette ta pe f or reco rding, be sure its er ase- protection tab s are in place (see “Prev enting Ac cidental Erasure” on P age 1 0) . • The recorder ’ s Automatic Lev el Cont rol (ALC ) ci rcui t aut oma tic ally adjusts t he rec ording lev el.
9 Note: If the externa l micropho ne has a se parate, smaller plug for remote o peration, inse r t that plug into the REM ja c k. Then you can use the m icrophone ’ s remote s witch t o stop or star t recor ding. 3. Press RECO RD to begin re cord- ing.

Th is can caus e playbac k so und qua li ty to deter io rate. To restore the sound quality, fast- forward th e tap e from th e beg in ning to the end o f one si de, then c ompletel y rewind it.
