5 PR EP AR A TI ON CONNECTING POWER You can power the CTR-107 fr om any of t hree power sourc es: • Int ernal bat te ries • Standa rd AC power (with an opti onal AC adapt er) • Y our v ehicl e’s cigar et te-lig hter sock et ( with an opti onal DC adapter) Note: Connect ing an adap ter di sconnec ts i nterna l batt eries .
6 Foll ow the se steps to i nstal l batte ri es: 1. Press down o n the ba tter y compa rtment cover and sli de i t off in the direct ion of th e arr ows. 2. Inst all t he batterie s as indic ated by the polar ity sym bols ( + and –) mar ked outside th e compa rt- ment.
7 • Never l eave dead, ol d or weak batte ri es in the CTR-107. Batt eries can leak che micals and corr ode or da mage e lectr onic circ uits. 3. Replac e the cover .

9 • Always plug t he AC adap ter i nto the CTR- 107 befor e you p lug it int o the AC outlet , an d unplug the AC adapt er from th e AC out let bef ore you unplu g it s barrel p lug fro m the CT R-107 . Foll ow these steps t o co nnect t he CTR-107 t o AC power.
10 Using V ehicle Battery Power You can po wer t he CTR- 107 fr om your veh icl e’s c iga- ret te-ligh ter soc ket usi ng a DC adap ter (n ot suppl ied) , such as Cat. No. 273-180 2. Cauti ons: • The rec ommended DC a dapt er suppli es 6 vo lts and del ivers at leas t 300 mil lia mps.

14 OPER A TION LOADING A CASSETTE T APE Note: Metal tape s are no t recommended f or u se with thi s cassett e player . 1. T ake up any slack i n the tape b y tu rning one o f the cass ette’ s h ubs with a pencil .
15 2. Press STOP/EJ ECT to open the ca ssette com - part ment doo r . 3. Load the casset te wi th i ts o pen edge out , t he side you want to p la y f acing up, and i ts full r eel t o the le ft.
16 PLA YING A CASSETTE T APE 1. Load the cas sette tape. 2. Press PLA Y . The ca sset te pl ays unti l i t reac hes the end of the side, then i t aut omatica lly st ops. Note: Press P AUSE to tempo rari ly stop playback . Press P AUSE agai n to resum e play back.
17 3. Adjus t VOLUME as desired. 4. Press STO P/EJECT t o complet ely st op playba ck befor e it aut omatic ally stops . Press STOP/EJECT again to open the casse tte compar tment and rem ove t he c assett e tape.
18 Using Fast- Forward/Rewind While the t ape is s topped, press REVIEW /REWIND or CUE/F AST-F to ra pidly wind the tap e back ward or f or- ward. Press STOP/EJECT , then PLA Y a ga in to r esum e play back.
19 Using the T ape Count er You can use the t ape c ount er to help y ou fin d sp eci fic loca tions on t he tape. At the begi nning of a t ape, press the reset butt on to reset the tape co unter to 0 00. The n n ote t he count er’s re ading at t he begi nnng of each sel ecti on.
20 RECORDING Notes: • Befor e y ou loa d a ca sset te t ape f or re cordin g, be sure i ts era se-prot ecti on tabs ar e in pl ace (see “Prev entin g Acci dental Erasur e” on Page 25 ). • The re cor der ’ s Aut omatic Leve l Control (ALC) cir cuit automati call y adjus ts the recording level .
