6 POWERING THE CD PLAY ER You can power your CD pl ay er from any of these sources: • two AA alkali ne batteries (no t sup- plie d) • two r echarge able A A nickel - cadmium batteries (not supplie.
7 Cautions : • I f you will not be using t he CD player with battery power for more than a mont h, or if y ou pl an t o use only AC or DC power, rem ove the batteries.

9 USIN G AC POWER You can power the CD player from a standard A C out let using an opt ional AC adapte r such as Cat . No. 2 73-1664. Cautions: • Y ou must use an AC adapter that supp lies 6 volts a nd delivers at least 50 0 milli amp s. Its cen ter tip mu st be set to positive, and its plug must cor- rectly fit the CD player ’ s DC IN 6V jack.
10 CONNECTIONS You can listen to your CD player by con- necting earpho nes/headphon es o r am- plified speak ers to t he player’s PHONES jack, or by connecting a home audio or autosound system to the CD player’s LINE OUT ja ck.
11 CONNECT ING AMPL IFIED SPEAKERS You can listen to your CD player through optio nal amplified s peakers (such as Cat. No. 40-1387). Plug the speak er ca- ble’s 1 / 8 -inch plug into the CD player’s PHONES ja ck.
12 • If you r autosound s ystem has a cas- sette deck, con nect the supplied CD-to-cassette adapter ’s plug to the CD p lay er’ s PHONES j ack. Then insert the adapt er ’s other end into your cassette dec k just like a stan- dard cassette. Note: You can m ount your CD player in your car usin g an optional mounting bracket.
13 OPERATION LOADI NG A CD Caution: To hel p pr ev ent du st f ro m en- tering the CD player, always keep the CD compart ment cover closed except when l oading or unlo ading CDs. 1. Set OFF/ RESUME/HOLD to OFF . 2. Slide OP EN in t he d irection of the arrow and lift the CD c o mpartment cover .
14 If you connected an external power source, the CD p layer’s buttons light un- til you turn the CD player off or it turns off automatically. To temporarily stop play, press PLA Y/ P AUSE .
15 AUTOM ATIC SEARCH MUSIC SYSTE M ( ASMS) You can use ASM S bef ore o r during regular or progra mmed pl ay (see “P ro- gramm ed Play” on Pag e 16 ) to quickly lo ca te a n y tr a c k o n a C D. W hile the CD is stopped, repeatedly press or to move backward or forward to the desired track.
16 REPEAT PLAY You can repeat a single track on the CD, all tracks on the CD, or a programm ed sequence (see “P rogram m ed Play” ). To repeat a single track, press PL A Y MODE once while t he desired track i s playing. appears, and the CD player continuously replays the track.

18 RESUME You can set the CD pl ayer to remember the track i t was playing when you stopped the CD or it t urned its elf off. That way, whe n you p lay the CD agai n, the CD play er resumes playing at t he beginning of t hat trac k. To set the CD player to res ume, s et OFF/ RESUME/HOLD to RESUME at an y t im e.

21 REPLACING THE DC ADAPTER ’ S FUSE If the CD player stops operat ing, check the fuse in the DC adapter’s cigarette- lighter plug . If it has b lown, follow these steps to repl ace it with a 3-amp, 5 × 20 mm, fast -acting fuse such as Cat . No. 270-1054 (not supplied).
