5 POWER SOUR CES You can pow er your CD player fr om: • T wo AA batteries • Standard AC power , using an A C adapter • A vehicle’s battery power , us ing a DC adapt er USING BATTERIES You can power your CD pla yer from battery power using: • Tw o AA alk aline bat teri es (such as Ra dioShack Cat.

This helps restore the bat teries’ full charging capacity . • Avoid charging the batteries in a hot environme nt (above 1 13°F) as this can perm anently redu ce the batteries’ chargi ng capac ity .
7 USING AC POWER You can po wer the CD pl ayer from a standard A C outlet using an AC adapter, suc h as Cat . No. 273-1664 . Cautio ns: • Y ou mu st use an AC adapter that supplies 6 vo lts, and delivers at least 400 mil liamps (CD-3620) or 500 milliamps (CD-3640).
8 USING V EHICLE BATTERY POWER You can power your CD pla yer from your vehicle’s battery us ing a DC adapter, suc h as Cat . No. 273-1801 . Cautio ns: • Y ou m ust use a DC adapter t hat supplies 6 v olts an d delivers at least 500 m illiam ps.
9 CONNECTIONS You can l isten to your CD pla yer by connecting optional stereo earphon es or amplified speakers to t he player’s PHONES ja ck, or b y connect ing a home audio or ca r stereo syste m to the play er’s LI NE OUT j ack. You can mount your CD player in y our car using a mount ing bracket.
10 CONNECTING AMPLIFIED SPEAKERS To listen to y our CD player through a pair of amplified speakers, plug the speakers’ 1 / 8 -inch pl ug into the CD player’s PHONES jack.
11 If yo ur aut o sound syst em has a CD in- put jack , you need a ste reo 1 / 8 -inch patch cable, such as Cat. No. 42- 2387. Connect one end t o the CD player’s LINE OUT jack and the ot her end to the autosound system’s CD IN- PUT j ack.
12 OPE RATION PLAYIN G A CD 1. Set HOLD to OFF . 2. Press to open the disc compart- ment. Then handlin g the CD by its edges, careful ly place it, label side up, over the com partment’s cent er hub. Press gently on the CD’s center so the CD lies flat in the compartment .
13 • T o enhance the bas s sound, briefly press MEMORY/E-BASS . BASS app ears. T o ret urn to n or- mal sound, press MEMORY/ E- BASS again. BASS di sappears.

15 To cue a t rack in a p rogrammed se- quence (see “Program med Play” on Page 16), press PLA Y/P AUSE to pause the CD. flashes. Then press or to display the track you want to cue. To play the cued track, press PLA Y/ P AUSE . INTRO SCAN The intro s can feature auto matically plays the f irst 10 seconds of each track on a CD.
16 RANDOM PL AY In random play, the CD pla y e r play s all the t racks onc e in rando m order, then au t omat icall y s tops. To start ra n- dom pl ay at any t ime, repea tedly press PLA Y M ODE until RAND OM ap - pears.
