5 CHOOSING A POWE R SOURCE You can pow er your CD player fr om: • Four AA alkaline batteries or t w o rechargeable ni ckel-cadmi um bat- tery packs (none supplied) • Standard AC power , using an A.

8 USING V EHIC LE BATTERY POWER You can power your CD pla yer from your vehicle’s battery us ing a DC adapter, such as Cat. No. 273-1801 (not suppl ied). Cautio ns: • Y ou m ust use a DC adapter t hat supplies 6 v olts an d delivers at least 550 m illiam ps.
9 CONNECTIONS You can l isten to your CD pla yer by connecting stere o earphones or am- plified speak ers to the player’s PHONES ja ck, or by connect ing the player’s LINE OUT jac k t o a ho m e au - dio or car stere o syst em. 10 CONNECTING AMPLIFIED SPEAKERS To listen to y our CD player through a pair of amplified speakers (not sup- plied), plug the ampl ified speakers ’ 1 / 8 - inch plug into the CD player’s PHO NES jack.
11 If your auto sound system has a CD input jack — you n eed a stereo 1 / 8 - inch patch cable, suc h as Cat. No. 42- 2387. Connect one end t o the CD player’s LINE OUT jack and t he other end to the a uto sound system’s CD INP U T j ack .
12 OPE RATION PLAYIN G A CD 1. Set HOLD to OFF . 2. Press OPEN and li ft t he disc com - partment cover . 3. Carefully place the CD, label side up, over the disc com partment’s center hub. Press the button on the hub ge ntl y so the CD l ies flat in the compartment.
13 • If you c onnected the CD player ’s LINE OUT jack to ampli - fied speakers, your hom e audio syste m, o r your car ’ s stereo, use the volume cont r ols on those units to set th e desired volume as needed. • T o enhan ce the bass sound, set E-BASS to IN .
14 AUTOMA TIC SEARCH MUSIC SYS TEM (ASMS) You can use A SM S before or during regular or programmed play (see “ Pro- grammed Play” on Pag e 15) to quickly locate any track on a CD. Du ri ng pl ay , pr ess to ret urn t o the beginning of the current track.
15 REPEAT PLAY Your CD player can repeatedly pl ay a single track, the entire CD, or a p ro- grammed sequenc e (see “P ro- grammed Play” on this page). To repeat a single tra ck — be fore or during play, press PLA Y MO DE once so 1 appears on the display.
